Hey folks
I have been practicing t seals on 12 mm and while I have been making progress they still are not quite making me happy. The hardest thing for me is judging my own quality since I don't have any local glass friends really to compare or learn from.
Anyways I'm open to critiques. It seems I get the best look when I try to stick it hot and stretch all in one and then work quarters blowing and sucking until the inside is smooth.
Homer hoyt talks about sticking it then reheating followed by a blow and stretch.
Anyone?

Heat a spot on the longer length that is approximately the size of the tube you're attaching and blow it out slightly to form a bulge. Heat the bulge with a sharp hot flame and blow out a thin walled bubble that can be cracked off. Once the bubble is broken off and the edges are cleaned up, the opening should be slightly smaller than the tube going on or the same size, not larger. It is imperative to make this hole the right size and preferably not have to resize it. Once again it should be the same as the tube going on if not a c-hair smaller. Heat both openings until they are soft and remove from the flame, then quickly attach and pull slightly while puffing lightly, a blow hose is ideal for this purpose. If the glass was sufficiently soft when heated then this should make a good seal and not require additional heating.

You know I just gave it a shot and my first couple were way nicer. Before I was heating a spot and using a cold rod without blowing a blister out. Between that and the blow hose I made a huge improvement in just two seals. You saved my ass. A friend of mine who runs a local store wanted me to make her a bunch of clear drop downs and while I thought I was capable at first I was just making some ugly shit. Now I think I see that I was over working everything and getting shit too hot. Now I just need to work on doing those one touch welds every time. Ain`t no money in spending all day working every one. Ill post a coiple pics later.

Are you using just a bench torch? Making the seal with the bench torch and the finishing with a National with a # 1 piloted tip is how I do all T seals under 3/4".

I'm using a national attached to the bench with a 7 hole tip. The ht-0

I'll have to get one of those. I have a couple single hole tips as well. Ox-1 and 3 I believe.

If you can pick up a gentec or Smith little torch at some point it'll blow your fucking mind
