yeah, heat the joint with a lighter. then set the joint on a surface and tap on it with the lighter untill it pops off. may have to do several times. good luck
You could also freeze it, that has helped me remove them sometimes.

Freeze the hole thing, then remove from frezer and heat with warm/hot water only, only on the female joint. Once the female is hot and the male isnstill cold , pull tjem apart becarful tappng lightly with a woodspoon will help

Yep, good advice. The wooden spoon always does the trick for me.

It will very likely come loose if you can immerse it in Coca-Cola overnight. I know it sounds crazy, but back in a former life as a scientific glassblower in a research lab, I used this trick several times on stuck joints that I absolutely could not get loose any other way. It never failed. I don't know if the type of Coke makes a difference, but I'd put my money on Coke Classic.
Yes, this sounds fairly ridiculous, but I'm actually serious. Try it, I think you'll be amazed at how well it works. However, if you're anything like me, you'll probably start wondering what the shit does to your insides if it can free up a hopelessly stuck ground joint. My apologies for that if you happen to like Coca Cola.

Be sure to use regular coke and not diet.

Coke's a wonderful thing to use for dissolving bead release, cleaning chrome, cleaning up blood, etc.
I try not to drink the stuff anymore though. Like Brads mentioned, god only knows what it's doing to your innards.
I *do* like it for stripping the crap off my throat when I have a sore throat though. Couple sips and I'm good.

Something magical about the power of wood when unfreezing joints.
