View Full Version : After a 2 year hiatus I'm back on the torch...

Yesterday was the first day back on the torch after 2 years. You wanna talk about rusty? Everything felt new again and I was nervous. I tried to make a simple iso fumed spoon and it was tough.

I've made thousands of them in the past, this one was a struggle.

What really threw my off was the lack of foot pedal. I've pretty much always had a pedal in the past and even though I no longer own one my foot kept trying to stomp on it.

Going to have to build one soon I guess.

Even though I only had an hour to work it was still fun. Looking forward to being able to spend more time up in my shop again.

I heard last week you got some equipment up and running. Good to know you are back at it. Stop back in DSM some time. Good stuff going on here. BK

So, day 2 went a lot more smooth. Made a couple sellable fumed iso spoons. Now I need to make a few hundred more to get my new gear payed for.

Ordering some solenoid valves next week. Working without the foot switch is driving me nuts.

Looking forward to getting my skills back to par so I can come collab with some folks sometime.

That's really kind f you, Scott.

Keep it up Jer. I had no shop for awhile too and it was horrible. Getting back was scary and discouraging at times. I found the best solution was to just get out there every single day and plow through the rough spots. You'll get there. :)

Thanks Misha. It feels good to be back on the torch as well as be back to this little online community.

I can't thank Scott enough for his generosity. Me and that old pedal go way back. I've probably jumped on it a million times. It was weird packing it up in a box and shipping it away. But at the time I thought I had out grown doing glass and had some bills to pay.

I think I miss that old pedal even more than the torch.
