hey guys,I had the pleasure of meeting a 65 yr. old man recently and found out 3 things.1 he was a glass "sculpturist" in malls/shows,2 he"s got cancer.3 he"s got about 10 thousand clear/stained glass figurines in storage and could really really use some $.I have a case of his work and its pretty standard stuff,deer,birds,religous,holiday.ect.the work is really quite routine but done with obvious talent. If anyone could use them I"m sure they would sell easily at events and he"ll sell them at cheap prices.he needs the help and whoever decides to take him up on this will certainly make a good buck themselves, not to mention help a fellow glass blower when he needs it.sorry no pics but I"ll send some samples to anyone interested.no need to return them if not interested either.they were all made in the 70"s n 80"s in wisco and or.thanks for helpin.peacechris k.

Can you tell us the man's name? I was in Wisconsin in the late 70's and may have met him. These sort of things are not made much anymore, except in China for companies like Glass Baron. Might be interesting to see pics, but it would be tough to justify buying the pieces with selling in mind. Tough to compete with the Baron. Maybe an auction to raise money for him would be an easier sell...

Yeah..whats his name? I've been here in Wisconsin since 1969? I knew the radzik's and the younger one is about 60 something, I did glass for him back in the 80's. He was a friend of Christensen, who had a glass shop in Maderia Beach Fl. where Shane Fero worked in the early 80's, probably know him.

steve

Robert...where were you at in Wisconsin? I was doing glasswork off broadway in the Dells in 75-78.

Well it is a small world indeed. I was in Wisconsin in 1978 working for... are you ready?... Christensen! He offered me a summer job and I took it, much to my later regret. We traveled around the Dells doing the carnival circuit. I cannot remember which towns we visited, but I did meet a number of flameworkers. Perhaps you were one of them...

So, I was right...I knew their was something about you when we met at AGI. I know we didn't chat a lot.

Ever remember a guy they called Bright eyes? He worked up here and started glass around 1972, God all he made were bird cages, never saw him make anything else...appropriate...bright eyes.

steve

By the way, his real name was Don Barnhill.

I would be interested in purchasing a set for myself. You can't find those figurines these days without them being made in china. maybe for some kind of sentimental value of glassblowing americana, I would like them , please let me know prices and styles, Thanks

I'd love to pick up an elk. Is it possible to buy just one? What would the price be for the piece and shipping? You can contact me at email . at . wesleyfleming . dot . com.
