Im looking to purchase a leaf crimp tool to add some leaves to some of my work. I have my eye on the Jim Moore Leaf Crimp, but was wondering if anyone here owns and/or has used that particular crimp. Ive seen some crimp tools that look bootsy as hell and I love all the JM tools I currently own, I just wonder if its worth the cost for this particular tool. Any input anyone could offer would be appreciated.

The tool in question can be found here:

Thanks!

I had a cheapo pair of leaf mashers that came in a small box of tools I purchased a while back, and after using them less than a handfull of times one of the teaves broke off. It broke off right at the weld or braise. I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for".

Def! I am a firm believer in that concept as well.

I have the diamond crimp. NFS, it's nice enough that someone will have to pry it out of my cold dead hands. Or cozy up to my daughter who will be disposing of my estate.

I just bought one from Wale like 5 minutes ago. We'll see how it holds up.

Damn I've never seen any of these tools... Is that diamond tool what Shelbo makes his "teleport keys" with?

If I could only have one set of leaf crimps hands down it would be Moore's. Cutting edge comes in at a close second on crimps imo. L and k tools also makes high quality crimps and shaping tools for the lampworking industry. They have old history and before everyone took to blowing boro they supplied all the renaissance lampworkers with tools. Honestly I don't know if they still exist small company back then with a very small customer base.

I have a whole bunch of the L&K tools too. The round bird wing (mounted reversed) is my favorite. They (L&K) are a 2 man shop and basically everything is custom made - which means if you want the size modified or a different spacing of the grooves on the tool or whatever, they can likely accommodate. They get my recommendation as well.

Hmm those look pretty quality, but I like how the JM tools mash down closer to parallel. That "C' shaping at the back of the tool really does a lot for getting closer to a parallel crimp
