After examining the piece here is way I interpret it to mean.

The humanoid figure on it, I assume billy, represents humanity the outreaching limbs attempting to stretch all out of the universe but Humanity has been damage and spreading and leaking out while the hollowness represents the emptiness and cold in this modern world of war and opression with nuclear arms. The color of the piece, blue, represents the artists feeling on all these issues the sadness and depression.

yah well i kinda got that impression too except i figure the figure is jet black because he represents the darkness mankind has enveloped the world with and thats why he's kicking it,the blue distorted globe is the state of the earth with its hollow disturbing changes from a beautiful blue sphere.the figure seems to be tripping too hopfully symbolizing that he's gonna fall only to get back up n see his err.or maybe i'm clinically insane!!!!i've been accused!tell me what you think of that!
