Marble makers and collectors HELP please. I just started working for Hobbydb (https://www.hobbydb.com/), a website for hobby/collectors to input and manage their collection.

We would like to create a MARBLE category. What attributes are important to you? Color, maker, type of glass, millifiori, vortex, etc.

Artist
Type of glass - boro or soft glass, solid or hollow
Styles - list subcategories here such as vortex, eye marbles, space marbles, etc.

Color might be important to some but this is going to be hard to arrange. A lot of collectors don't know the names of the colors...and I often forget what I used as the artist. I try to list them on my website, mostly for myself and future reference, but it's been a crap shoot over the years. I'd skip this personally.

Great info, thanks Misha!

Signature? Almost all marble makers sign their work nowadays I believe, but you could have a signed/unsigned category. Collectors might like to record the method of signing (ti pen or signature murrine), name or initials, and year.

for colors I believe the site will just list colors as people percieve them, not the glass type color. For example, a marble made with fume that looks green to the eye would get listed as "Green". Collectors can select as many colors as they need to describe the marble.

if you could only choose "Space" or "Galaxy" to describe those types of marbles, which is preferable?

Space, because some people call their marbles by "galaxy" or "universe" for example, and it's kinda what they are known for. "Space theme" covers anyone.
