oh yes....even had i not "skinned" it, i'm sure in full sunlight and the right (or wrong) angle and it's like a magnifying glass. very dangerous to leave in the window, and i made sure the buyer is aware.
i've had the lens of a flower compression burn holes in my table at the flea market...i could not for the life of me figure out how my cigarette was burning spots on the table...i thought i was being irresponsible with my cig....turns out it was the lens of the flower marbles burning the table! i smelled burning wood (after cig was out) and saw a tiny whiff of smoke at just the right time.

needless to say, i moved them into the shade!

what i really want to know is, will a large orb start a fire faster then a smaller one? might have to test that out.

I'm pretty sure that a large orb can start a fire faster than a small one. Being larger, more sunlight touches it, and since the sun's rays are coming straight down from a single small source, it can focus a large percentage of them on a tiny point.

over the weekend i've got to make a full set of clear mibs, 1/2" all the way to 3" in half inch increments (6 piece set) and i'll test this theory before i ship them out.
