RSS would rock. Now you gotta get everyone to use Firefox.

RSS is this:
http://www.webreference.com/authoring/languages/xml/rss/intro/
http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2002/12/18/dive-into-xml.html

Really Simple Syndication. If you have an RSS browser or Firefox's RSS plugin you get a scrolling "ticker" style thing at the bottom of your browser that updates with the latest /n/ posts where /n/ is a user setable number from 1-20ish

I think RSS would rock for this site.

what generator are you using?

PyroChixRock

It's an option in vb, I just turned it on. I'll see if I can paste details....

Enable RSS Syndication
This setting allows you to enable/disable the RSS content syndication system.

Enabling this option will allow people to receive a feed of the latest threads in specific forum(s). This may be included into a webpage or RSS reader to provide an automatically updated latest threads display.

The option refers specifically to an RSS feed.

and the feed for General Discussion

http://www.thegldg.com/forum/external.php?forumid=5

well, thats close to right... gotta check it out in a different reader...

So hey, with those links...do you still need something coded into the skins?

Is there a plugin for netscape users? The links just give me some xml page or something. I've never used RSS feeds before, but it seems like it would be pretty convenient since the letters are already wearing off the "new posts" button...lol.

PyroChixRock
07-12-2005, 07:22 PM
ok....that do it? I've only done it on the blue skin until I know it's working right...

Greymatter Glass
07-12-2005, 09:51 PM

Thanks a ton misha :)
