This is a pipe at two weeks. It had perfect mouthpeice, decent carb, the bowl hole was a little off center but a good size. Pretty even thickness throughout the peice. That was at two weeks I'll post some better more recent pics when I get a camera

These are some more pic. The black one is one a made last week. It's just a prodo. The second one was one I did at two weeks, I couldn't get a good pic of it. It was very sweet, I put four layers on it and a clear coat inbetween the 2nd and 3rd layer. It was too thick and cracked a day later, I don't have a kiln. I was really impressed on that peice though I didn't burn off any fuming and I managed to strike the red w/o a kiln. I'd like to try it again sometime with a kiln.

the dude you're apprenticing under (or whatever) does his name happen to be (or he goes by, anyways) Sepulworld?

Keep rockin' that candle, someday you'll own the flame like it's your bitch.

go bigger, keep that work tight

add some marbles, maybe a little handle attachment.

These were posted by my buddy matt. But if you don't listen to them, at least do yourself a favor, get a white towel, put the piece on said towel, turn on all the lights in the room. stand back a little, and zoom way the hell in.

Please don't think I am an asshole. Its just that pictures make a world of difference when showing your work. Sometimes you can sell more work with great pictures than you can with having the piece right in front of them (people may choose to disagree, this is fine, i know shop owners who have different preferences).

I've just had this drilled into my skull throughout my entire art career. showing poor pictures of work can cause a negative impact on the viewer (especially if it is the first time they see your work). Saying that a picture was done quickly, or just to show somebody is fine, but usually you're left with making excuses. Don't make excuses, just get better pictures.

I know you're probably thinking I am a jerk and didn't get the point, but believe me. I've been in your shoes on multiple forums and in public.

Your work, from what i can tell, doesn't look half bad. And if you really have been only doing this for about a month, then props to you. Seriously.

The right picture can make a POS look damn sweet. (that's not to say I think your work is a POS, because I don't)

hey thanks, I used silver fuming, pomagrenate, and blue spruce some clear coated and some not. I think those are the only colors I used.

No it's not, but I made this peice before I started my apprenticship, this one was at two weeks.

And guys I'll try to take better pics next time. I'll try the white towel thing.

lol

You're not doing bad man... it's funny how these days there is so much more to starting to blow glass i.e. the internet. I didn't learn how to take pics of my work and post them until I'd blown for about 6 years so don't feel bad that you're not getting it all perfect right now. And btw, damn nice mouthpieces for such a short time :) Lots of people flail that hard for a while....

One suggestion... ok no more then that :lol

#1 Flat spots! You don't "have to" but it's pretty standard to not have a piece wobble back and forth for a few minutes after you set it down.

#2 Black backgrounds for fuming unless you want to show off pink and yellow work ( I do that with my fume marbles so that people understand the true nature of it- black shows the reflecting color, white shows the transmitting color).

#3 "Background" means the background of the entire picture... not a part of the background- the whole thing. We should see NOTHING BUT YOUR GLASS on a background... not your desk, spoon, etc.

#4 Macro setting on your camera... perhaps you don't have it but if not, go get a new camera that does asap.... it's SO important for close up, crisp pics.

#5 Bright light source (from behind the camera or to the side of it etc, you have it backwards)- and shut the door/ shades/ blinds... look again at your pic of the 9 spoons... er pankers...(see below lol) you can clearly see a LOT of glare that could be reduced or eliminated... as well as the pieces aren't lit up at all.

and on a side note- Skip!!!!! DUDE!!!
now that's a panker...YES!!!!!!!! You are the very first person outside of my original glass crew to use that word- I've had to switch to "spoon" due to everyone asking me wtf is a panker? When I started my apprenticeship with Ezra, he named me "Panker Princess" and I had to work my up to "Panker King". :lol And when I messed up mouthpieces trying to pick them and made them shorter and shorter, we called that "Pankensins Disease". :lol

Hey thanks for all the advice, I appreciate it. I do have flat spots though. My spoons don't wobble I just like to flatten it at an angle so the worts stick up. Peace
