lol that is all.. love peace and happiness :)
I use them as a last resort, and don't expect much, so when the glass comes half broken I'm not dissapointed. They have built their business on cornering the import Asian glass market, and offering cutthroat deals that basically have killed all the mom n pops bottom line in the industry. You can rationalize buying from them any way you want, but make no doubt about it they care less about lamp workers and the scene at large than making a profit. They are a corporation type business that was started by a guy who allegedly was importing glass and setting up sweatshops in countries without laws (basically killing the u.s. prodo market in '00's) If you expect anything from them expect them to follow the $$ and they will take the shortest route there. What they promote is for their profit, not for the good of the industry.

I try to avoid politics as much as possible. However I do not support Asian sweat shop labor, and for that reason alone I have never purchased or supported business with ABR.

I used to buy Euromax glass and Corning too. Both made is Asia.

lol 10 comments on the thread and Nomad has made 5. the double double post haha. na but really. Dave from Abr already said in another thread he hooks nomad up. Nomad said he was paying $2.30 a pound for asian color from them. And with the 40% off sale most of the color was $10 a pound. So that just shows you why anytime someone says something bad about abr nomad is there to shit all over their thread.
I have never ordered from ABR. that being said, everyone should be glad there are multiple distributors to compete and provide folks with shit. Nothing is ever perfect. I would switch to abr for those prices nomad is getting. I am paying the standard at mountain, and I cant complain about those guys at all. Glad I can source things like this easy. Glad i can buy that asian tube

like that one order i got over 20 pounds of free color? yup.. all american color. ns and tag. they didn't want me to send it back, because i did indeed offer.. twice. i've never had my glass be smashed up through abr. 13+ years of orders.
any small issue that has happened has been taken care of, or went away. my .02

I deal with abr pretty much exclusively. Because they have killer sales, because they stock a wide variety of products which enables me to buy everything at one store. I have had issues with quality control on a couple tools I've purchased, and they quickly resolved that issue and refunded me. They have always sent me shipping labels for return shipping. I've never had to pay for return shipping. I have always been treated right by their customer service employees that is why they will continue to get my business.
Just my experience with them from when I first became a lampworker 3 years ago.

Haven't ordered from ABR in awhile, about 2 yrs ago I noticed a difference between what ABR was selling as first quality color compared to what mountain glass was selling. I will still buy if a sale is happening and I need. Never had a problem with customer service
Hashmasta. I feel like this forum is very cliquey . if you aint part of the clique you really have to watch your ass with what you say or you will get infractions and banned. I just pointed out that the op was pretty much trolling my previous thread and that he previously posted how bad abr sucked in another thread and i was talked down to by the admin and others. . Kinda wack if you ask me. i got infractions for calling the customer service rep an idiot in my old thread.
To me i would be wondering why in 2008 people were talking the same crap about abr that im going through and i got talked crap to for bringing up an old thread. An intelligent mind might consider wholy cow they were saying they sucked in 2008. And People are still complaining in 2015. Maybe just maybe they do in deed actually suck. I get that not everyone has the same experience (nomad you dont have to chime in again). So good to the people who didnt have to deal with their bs.

Agreed. People dont like it when you smack em with some truth or proof. Hypocritical is what it is. No matter how old it is. And i didnt really dig for that. I searched abr to see how many other people had issues.. His post was on the first page. I just thought it was funny. Didnt know it would make someone lose their mind because i pulled a comment from a thread so old.
Misha sure jumped quick to tell me how i was wrong. But didnt say anything to the guy who started a thread about naming a chipmunk abr or the op of this thread. Which were both intsigative threads that spun off from my thread that she closed. Selective enforcement of the tos.
I really love this site for the information but thats about all its good for. Interaction at minimum from now on. I obviously dont fit the mold.

I think you fit in fine. Maybe just need to refine your methods of criticism. Remember we're in "public" and defamation can get ugly for all parties involved. Accountability and feedback are good when executed correctly. Trying to tear others down doesn't really go with the 'community' vibe promoted here.

trust me 330g, this forum is not a popularity contest or a clique....i more then anyone can attest that the way you conduct yourself and treat others is what the mods look at, not your join date, rep level or post count.
if a long time member with zero infraction history pops off once in a while, yes they will get away with it. if someone who is newish has verbal diarhea, they'll get less slack. it's just how it is.
my personal opinion on the matter is you should take Dave's offer. get your glass, and don't order asian (or not from abr) next time, and LET IT GO.

I would do that.... and I can't wait until the next Asian sale at ABR. They have them like 2 or 3 times a year. I have been making my money off these sales. I would not want them to stop having them.

A few years ago I was like yea Abr was importing china made pipes ... and a bunch of people argued and acting like I was lying ... then I dug up th posts on the old board that proved some of the same people defending abr knew about the importing of china pipes .. but soon after . The old board dissappeared ? ..
Abr is a vendor. Vendors are encouraged to donate money. They not gonna gonna let unbiased company reviews happen on a forum that is partially funded by the said business.

Anyone who actually knows how this site functions knows that's not the case. You cannot buy our opinions. Many have tried, but that is not how we roll. We're all glassblowers just like you. We don't anyone to get a raw deal, cause we've been at the receiving end of raw deals as well. I've also had issues with my ABR shipments, but when I do, I drop Dave a line, let him know what the issue is, provide pictures if necessary, and state very clearly how I would like the situation dealt with. This is the same I do with any other vendor (and I've had order issues with every major vendor. it's just part of life in a niche market like ours). If you treat these people with professionalism and courtesy, 99% of the time, they'll treat you in kind.

I got per piece of everything on the order except for the 25 mm tube. That I got a case of. There cases have a lot of tubes in them also.
Nomad what do you actually pay per pound for Asian clear and each individual color? After the sale price? How much is shipping separately?
Hey nomad. If you cant do math. Abr ripped you off too. And probably every other person who ordered for this sale. If you add up your glass. Its 217 $. 40% off 217 is 86.80 not 59.60. So you got ripped off for 27.20. Have a good one.

I've ordered from them..recieved what I ordered in an ok time frame and am happy with whatever it was I bought from them.
This constant bashing weighs heavily and makes it less pleasant perusing the forums as I always do.

Yeah that's great, but this isn't fun. The people who take the time to run this forum need to be able to have time to blow glass, too. All this does is get us flooded with emails asking us when we're going to ban certain people. Just stop it, go blow glass. If you want to hang around here, write something informational and helpful.
