Hey guys! Got something different here... I don't even know if this is the right place to ask about other types of glass art, I found something that looked like a small Asian painting encased in acrylic, but upon taking a closer look it was actually a hollowed out chunk of glass with very fine drawings on the insides??

I have pictures of course, but i'd just like to know if this is even the right place to ask this? It could be modern or very old too. I'll try to get the pic's onto my PC asap :)

Do you mean something like this?

My partner's been to China a couple of times and brought back several different types of those. She watched the artists at work and said that they just paint the inside of the pre-made hollow glass spheres (painting in from the opening in the bottom and in a mirrored fashion, kind of like a disk flip). They're quite common and as someone who knows next to nothing about their history, the new ones are hard to distinguish from the old(er) ones. I'm sure there are ID techniques, I just can't offer any help on that front.

Looks like the same/similar technique. My partner said her guide called them "inside paintings" or "inner paintings". There's a wikipedia blurb (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inner_painting) as well :)
