My first piece

Well, we finally got our workspace up and running and I was able to puts around last couple days and try and make something. So this was my third attempt at making a spoon. First couple almost came out but didn't quite make it. I accidentally blew my bowl hole way open on the first one using too much oxygen. And the second one I had done basically but when I cut it off the blow tube I close the mouthpiece. Tried to use a tungsten pick to open it up and ended up pushing a string of glass into the tube. But 3rd times a charm. I've never worked with tubing before this and I also never worked on a torch, just furnace pulls in a beginner class I took. So not too bad considering :P

Been working on my shaping. Spoons are coming out much better. Did my first fume implosion also. First time fuming anything. Just used silver and backed it with cobalt 5. Yes I know the bale is jank as all hell. :dieslaugh

So I have been trying to do some wrap and rakes. I suck at it. This is like my 3rd one. Lots went wrong here. I think my biggest mistake is not getting a more even layer of wraps/rake. But anyway I think I got a pretty good strike out of the amber purple. That's about all I'm happy with on this one. Any tips on melting in your color better for wrap and takes?

Yep. I had to hand stripe the tubing then I layered clear over it with a 12mm clear rod melted it in and pulled it down. I want to do a vac stack but I need to find an adapter I can use to hook my shop vac up to my blow tube. Was looking on Amazon earlier but couldn't find any the right size. I need like a 1 1/2 inch to 1/2 inch. If anyone knows where I can find one let me know.

You might find luck at home depot? get a pvc adapter that fits on to the hose of the vac. I'm sure they make 1.5" to .5" adapter

Yeah, I've got a menards and home depot pretty close to home. I'll have to see what they have. I was hoping to find something silicon like the blow hose adapters since I don't have an exact measurement of the attachment. I guess I can bring it in to the store though and try shit out.

Wanted to practice coil potting so I made a section of blue stardust and a section of heavy blue leprechaun, broke them into four sections, encalmo them together, slapped a wig wag I had layin around on there and made a Sherlock.

Been working on some rigs. Still struggling with getting nice even seals at the joint/down stem and at the neck/can connection as you can see in the pic. It's a work in progress. I'm all ears if anyone has some useful tips on making them better. :)

Thanks, I do have a smith little I use. I'll have to try hooking the joint up to the down stem first before I drop it like you suggested and see how that turns out. I seem to be having issues with evening out the material mainly. Looks good through my shade 5's then I take them off and I'm like oh hell no it's Janky. Lol

Haven't updated in a while. Here's the last piece I made. This was for a friend down in Tennessee. Slyme mini tube. This thing is pretty tiny. Wish I would have got a reference pic before I sent it. but it's maybe an inch taller than a bic lighter.
