So for those of us who are not solely glass blowers.... what do you do for work the other 40 hours of the week?

I'm a Merchant Mariner turned Freight Trader turned International Grain Broker.

I'm a Data Analyst. Most boring job I have ever had and this company runs itself half-ass backwards. But it pays the bills well.

Bookkeeper for a Non-Profit organization that is a partner of Acadia National Park. Very cool organization, beautiful location, but I HATE sitting in front of a computer screen all day entering QuickBooks data. I also commute 2 hours a day. My back has gone to shit in the past 5 years as I am 6'6 and not meant to sit in a chair all day.

Eclipse makes me go "ugh". Nobody asked, but me, I use NetBeans, mostly. (... and a bit of gedit, cat and vi, and a bunch of chrome. What, they don't count? I beg to differ!)

I think if I was younger I would become a house husband.
As of now my girlfriend wants to wait until her kid goes to college and she retires and becomes a college professor. So I have 8 years.

This was my last job but for a logistics company. I miss that job :(

My first day they took me for lunch, on my year anniversary they bought me lunch, flew me all over the west coast. Treated me well and I took it for granted.

Interesting, I got my Engineering degree from the California Maritime Academy. Got tired of the corporate grind after many years of stupid bureaucracy and now I work part time for a start up company as Jill of all trades, especially if it involves Excel spreadsheet magic (I've got decent spreadsheet foo).

Pediatric Intensive Care Flight Nurse...I have the best job ever. I get paid to fly around in a helicopter and save kids lives! It can get very intense at times, and yes, sometimes my job really sucks, but most of them go home. It doesn't get much better than that!

So that to me says out of 700 views 690 of us do glass full time and make a living from it. 40 haven't figured out how to make glass pay enough to leave the other job. I'm here because I'm curious to see what others are doing.

I am a full time farmer/homesteader, part-time glass. My main source of income comes from the cannabis plant. We are starting a healing retreat this year as well as a B&B type setup. I am also working on the creation of a non-profit that will help connect landless peoples with underutilized land, ie a farmer transition model. I have tons going on each day and I am uber happy to get to the studio to melt shit. We shall see if I can ever do this full time, I dunno I really enjoy having so many different things I can do each day.
