I did a few of these for the first time last night and like the tech a lot. Curious if anyone wants to share the steps of their process. Specifically, I am curious to know if anyone has a trick to keep the blowtube of your blank from getting blocked by the blow in. I tore off the blow tube, made a hole and then reconnected, but I am curious if anyone has a bench trick to just open it back up without so much work.

after you blow in, you tear off the thin color scrap end, and while its open, you can poke down in towards your blowtube with a 4mm rod or tungsten to break through the blow in layer. then you can melt the open end in while keeping it hot all over so it doesnt crack. once that end is closed you will be able to put pressure in to even things out. then i remount it to a new blowtube and work the other side.

i think it is my favorite technique to apply color, except for fume.

I tried with the tungsten, but it was too thick. I have a handtorch that I never use, but i am thinking I might be able to go in there with it and reheat the color and blow it out. I dont know, but I coiled up about 15 balls tonight to try out tomorrow. Maybe someone will post some genius clever trick, or maybe its just alot of work. For sure I really like it though, looks good, makes an uber thick pipe, and makes the color go a long way. I like it alot

I blow mine in then melt the blank end all the way down allowing the hole to close up so a layer of clear covers all the color. Then you can heat and even the end out and simply blow a new hole in it using the blow tube at the color end. Once you pop a new hole attach a new blow tube and repeat the process at the color end.

Use less color and it will pop open like nothin. I hate when theres no hole and i have to flip the whole thing to another blow tube. Also stainless steel pipe is bad ass to use for the color to be blown in off of.

I keep meaning to try the trick of using a guide rod down the receiving cup. My coffee addiction makes not tagging the sides a bit rough.

a guide down the recieving cup sounds like a good idea, good enough for a try. I am gonna try that for sure

Color bubble hotter, blow harder, cover more clear. The color will be paper thin. Blow too hard it pops like bubble trash.

Fwiw, I heat the end of a whole tube, no point pulled , the weight of the tube (40mm or 44mm) keeps the opening steady.

Make sure the blank end was just red hot right before the color bubble gets inserted. This helps keep the tiny bubbles to a minimum.
