I need a reference picture for a torch, the more jacked up and dangerous the better. Candles blasting out sideways and clogged? Is it safe to light? Probably? Maybe? Great, take a pic!
Doesn't have to be YOUR torch, just looking for a few pics of how torches should NOT behave.
Thanks!

There's a really good one around here from the guy who won the torch giveaway. I'll try to find it.

I can get you a video of my PM2D premixing and popping. Why risk it though? Putting together a safety video or something?

Here is what a smoked Herbert arnold looks like on full tilt. I love that little floating red/orange fire ball, users left.
Not dangerous, just turns it all to mud.

He used it for quite awhile I thought. Homemade doesn't mean unsafe if piped proper. Aesthetics is not needed.

Worst torch I've ever seen in person was this crazy old 60's or earlier model(I'll ask what brand it was). It had such a burned out,ate up, cratered face that when you shut it off every single time without fail it "popped"( horrific understatement) like a 8ga shotgun going off inside your shop. It was my shopmates lathe hand torch. Omg even if I knew it was about to happen, it'd scare me so much I almost wanted to pee a little each time. He used it for like two years or more like that, so I got to look forward to a dozen or so pops atleast each day for years. When i say loud I'm not joking. I mean loud AF!

JBD had these crazy torches made in India way back in 97, and even though they were new they popped like crazy. They were scary. I worked on one for awhile when I had to leave there; Jason gave me one, tools, glass and oxy account and let me use his discount at Aim, totally set us up so we could work from home. He helped us start Eugene Rain and crazy popping torches led the way. :lol
Wish I still had it. They were blue but I don't remember much else about it other than it scared the shit out of me daily.

They were probably the Bhanu Scientific burners that were knock offs of Herbert Arnold and Kavalier/Simax torches that were on the market back then. They're actually decent torches for the price, but they're made with cheap parts and cheap labor so you really have to go over them and make sure it's running safe and sound before using them.

No, they were made from jason's design, he had them made in India but I don't think it worked out very well.

they were actually knock offs of Carlisle or the knight burner.. horribly made the head would start to glow while working super scary, but misha they were'nt blue they were chrome metal looking..the blue torches you are thinking about are the two torches given to us from eigenshaft they were the less expensive wanna-be herbert arnold/cc+ torch called the mya or whatever.

Here's a PM2D I got from that sketchy ebay seller backfiring up at Bethlehem: https://www.facebook.com/bethlehem.burners/videos/778138958997252/

Here is a lovely example of a phantom that's been well maintained.
Not mine. I'm just the lucky guy who's shop is graced by its presence.
He crushes the o.2. Trying to keep his color from total reduction. (insert a "Nodice" style *cough* here.)
Really hard to show how smoked it is. The lynx stage IS in surprisingly good shape still.

I could make that lynx run like new. Marcels delta mag was easily this bad I got every port running like new but one that was totally not working, had a clear port just wasn't working at all. Doing a wire cleaning the right way and the lil brush you get in the cleaning kit is all you need to make these run like new again.

Ya Boro, the lynx stage never really gets cooked, even when you fry the second stage bad. I have done it with accidental really short jets a few times, and one time it actually seemed to help, lol.
Not sure if you saw my recent thread, how i got my torch clean, but with the wire cleaner i tried for weeks and failed.
It took a variety of things. What is the "right" way to use the wires?

for stubborn ports I use a pair of needle nose holding the wire with just a tiny but of wire poking out one side. Work the port surface in kinda circles (drilling like) with the wire. when you insert a wire put it in untill it stops at that point you need to wiggle the wire.. this is most important as it frees up the half moon shaped port which most likely is the port causing flame instability. If the half moon does not move freely within the other port keep wiggling. I again am using needle nose gripped rihht by the head of the torch to enable good amount of torque to the wire without bending or braking it. Make sure you oxy is on during all cleanings.

Yeah, my ports were all seemingly clean all the way down, no clogs.
