get nice wrist braces and wear them while you sleep,it make a huge difference. use ice packs to reduce the swelling. yoga can also help with carpel tunnel by strengthing and stretching everything out.good luck peace brett

Use a gyro ball....they work really nice.
I started to get it bad this year so I bought one of those nice $60 magnetic wrist bands. I'm not sure if it worked or not because I also started really kicking up my all around fitness level and it went away. Aikido hand stretches work well. They are hard to explain, but if I come across a link I'll post it.
I uses Nikken magnet therapy in a wirst brace. It's the shit. Along with some basic stretches I have never had pain and I work twice as much as the avereage person for like 7 years now. Magnets work.
I used to have problems with carpal tunnel back when I was playing music every day. It's hard to explain the exercises that really helped me, but I'll try:
Place your hands together with palms facing each other in front of your sternum. now slowly move your wrists down while trying to keep your palms together. Then spread your fingers and thumbs out and slowly press your fingers and thumbs against each other. If you're doing it right, it will look like a spider doing pushups on a mirror. Slowly do that repeatedly for a while. Then when you're done, return your hands to the flat position and slowly raise them upback towrds your sternum.
Next one is basically just pulling your fingers back toward your elbow (if your arm is bent) or toward your shoulder (if your arm is straight out).
With both of those, you may want to focus on your first two fingers, as that is where the carpal tunnel runs (from there all the way up into your neck). I had tingling happening up into my arms - it sucked. A buddy of mine got to where he couldn't turn his head and could barely move his arms he was in such pain. If you do have carpal tunnel, don't let it go, deal with it. It can get real bad real fast.
I think there were some other exercises I did, but those are the only ones I still do regularly, I foget the others.
B-6 and Omega Oils do wonders, too.

thanks guys i appreciate it. i dont know about rosie. im definately up on my omegas and have done the stretch to the elbow/shoulder, but not often because iw asnt quite sure if it was a good thing to do or not. so i appreciate the info. ill try those exercises. magnets are always good and i was thinking of picking some up. the braces......if necessary, i would wear them during sleep? sounds harmless enough, i was iffy about the braces cause i thought id have to wear them all of the time. ill try anything....besides painkillers and surgery (jeffs mom has had 3 of the surgeries and none helped). thanks guys.

ya dont wear the braces anytime other then when your sleeping. most people tend to sleep with their wrists curled which makes CT worse. wearing them while you sleep makes a huge difference its strange how relaxed your arms feel when you wake up and take offf the braces. make sure you get adjustable ones so you can find the most relaxing postion for your wrists. peace brett

I had pain in my wrists too, I went to an occupational therapist. Firstly I didn't have carpel Tunnel, it was overuse of my upper wrist muscles, they were rubbing against a band of tendons? that force the muscles to stay in place.
He didn't recommend a wrist brace at all, that often times people keep pushing against the brace and instead of fixing the problem: keeping the wrists straight and distributing the load to the arms and back.
He recommended a full body workout, just getting in shape so my arms and back would carry more of the load, in addition to strengthening my wrists so it is easier to keep them straight.
For a full workout see a personal trainer : P. For your wrists there are several. One is to have stick (about the thickness of tubing) with a wight tied to it on a rope. Roll it up and down, in the same position as you would blowing glass. Also have a stick with a weight on one end and your hand on the other, beginning horizontally rotate it 180 degrees using only your wrist, arms stays straight.
For streches hit an Aikido class or book. It's a marshal art that uses a lot of wrist locks. Their wrist streches are incredible, especially when you have two people doing it.
Don't do it all at once, start with the exercises, it took me a couple years to get that whole routine down.
Good luck.
