Are you getting the colors hot enough to burn the haze off of them when you're working?

I think your oxygen and propane settings sound off as well. I ran my Red Max at 5 propane and 35 oxygen. I know others recommend different settings, but I found that those are what worked best for me.

as far as I know I am burning the haze off of them I can see it burning off on the surface. but I was also told to try and keep the torch at a 3 to 1 ratio. im not sure if I would damage it by changing it up?

You won't hurt it by changing it up. I wouldn't go drastic like 100 oxygen and 1 propane or anything. Of course, you probably wouldn't even be able to light it like that anyways.

I would practice on just some rods first. Gather up some color on the end of some Mai Tai or Amber Purple or whatever. Work it like you normally would, then let it cool and throw it in the kiln. See if you get the colors you want like that first. Then go from there.

Post some pics if you have them too.

I do that when I'm working a lot of dichroic. Somtimes up to 50 on the oxygen.
