The surgeons asked Matt if he had a living will, so we looked into it. It basically says what you want medically if something were to happen where you couldn’t say yourself. It’s free, you can put it on file, and it’s easy to do.

Here’s a site I found that has tons of legal forms for free. Copy and paste them into MS word and print them out. Biz forms, wills, living wills, etc…tons!

misha, please make sure you talk to a lawyer about the details off this. my grandmother had a living will and they wouldnt honor it. im not sure of the pretenses, i was young. all i know is it caused alot of turmoil in my family. it might not be that way anymore, but just a heads up

Also, power of attorney is a good one to have. So really you need 3, living will, last will and testament, and power of attorney. That way your spouse/family won't run into any problems. You can do them all free, and have them notarized for free at your bank, easy easy easy way to get long lasting peace of mind!

Cristi, ya some states have strict rules on what would be honored and what would not. I don't think Oregon takes handwritten ones, but as far as I can find so far, they just require it to be notarize. But, I will ask my lawyer friend, just to make sure. :D

THE POWERS YOU GRANT BELOW ARE EFFECTIVE
ONLY IF YOU BECOME DISABLED OR INCOMPETENT

Sounds ok? Thanks hun. :)

Yes that one will work.. Often I see the ones in my Real Estate practice when someone gets sick the Power of Attorney goes away. We are sure thinking about you at this time and know we all want this behind you..

Remember Robert Shapiro, who defended OJ Simson, he started a comapny called www.legalzoom.com, his son died from an overdose, and I saw him on Larry King, he was offering a free living will to anyone who went to his site, I got mine for free...just another site to check out, seems their services are right in line price wise, When I go, pull the plug..its all documented professionally done from them.

i just payed my attourney when we made up my will etc. you can normaly reduce fees by doing alot of things at once. Its better for things to be fairly set for your family..... and those you leave.

i would sugest a good family attorney localy repersent you and you keep him updated. Make sure he knows your will and is prepared to inforce it and do what is legaly necicary in that time.
