http://www.tracewatch.com/doc/#install

1. Download the Zip file, it contains the licence agreement and two folders named twatch and twatch_include. extract files in the zip to your hard drive.
2.twatch_include folder contains a file named userinfo.php, open this file in a text editor like notepad.
3. Type your information between single quotes in front of the corresponding variable and save changes:
$adl_dbserver
Your MySql database server address, it's very likely to be localhost or 127.0.0.1
$adl_db
Name of an existing database on the server to be used by TraceWatch
$adl_dbuser
Database Username
$adl_dbpass
Database Password
$adl_username
Choose a username for accessing reports and administration pages
$adl_pass
Choose a password for above username
$adl_pre
Ignore this for now

I need to upload this to a sql database on m,y server. The question now is. DO I make a new database for this program or do I install it on my existing database that my Cubecart program is on?

You need to make a new database and stick it where the sun don't shine. That'll assure that all of your orders come out the right end of the processing department, hopefully in a timely manner.

The user you are using to access the db doesn't have LOCK TABLES privilege.
To use TraceWatch the user must have LOCK TABLES privilege.
Check the control panel of your server or ask your host about how to give that permission to a particular user.

This is what I am getting now... I guess I should call Godaddy and figure this out....

I have spent 100 hours reading the forum at cubecart. They dont really help much with this outtside program. I have asked a couple questions there. I like you computer nuts here better......

I need locked tables !!!!

Ohhhh, you use GoDaddy as your host?!?

This is a little off-topic (and sorry that I'm not of much help - I don't do any shopping cart type stuff), but a GREAT webhost with REALLY excellent support is Rochen Hosting http://www.rochenhost.com/

I've had several websites hosted by them for about three years now, no complaints. They have 24-7 support (online), great pricing, and generally good service.

Good luck with Cubecart (and GoDaddy)!

Go daddy tech support is really good. they help you with the code end even if you're having trouble. I know this because they helped me and a friend set up his SQL connection strings and even worked him through a querey script. they're pretty good, just give them a call.

I called while you guys posted this....

I am on a shared server and can not use the program on that server. I would need to upgrade to a dedicated server and it's $40 a month WAY TOO MUCH for me . I am scraping this website upgrade I am doing together on a low budget the upgrade to pay pal pro is the most I can afford right now..

ANyone know of a cheap dedicated server?

$glob['dbdatabase'] = 'DataBaseName'';
$glob['dbhost'] = 'TheAddressOfYourDataBase';
$glob['dbpassword'] = 'PasswordForYourDBAccount';
$glob['dbprefix'] = 'NotSureWhatThisIs';
$glob['dbusername'] = 'TheUserNameForYourDBAccount';
$glob['installed'] = '0'; <----I think means you have the ability to over write things ("1" is read only)
$glob['rootDir'] = 'TheDirectoryWhereThisIsInstalled';
$glob['rootRel'] = 'RelationshipBetweenDirectoryAndRoot'; <--- Not really sure on this
$glob['storeURL'] = 'URLofTheStore';
?>

I don't usually write connection strings in PHP so some of this could possibly be wrong. i use ASP but i know PHP is free, so defenatly go with that.

First issue - you do NOT need a dedicated host. That's your own machine running JUST your web site. That's like killing a fly on the window with a shotgun. Shared hosting will be adequate.

The PHP being referenced is an array containing the configuration variables. Themoch got pretty close, but I'll see if I can clarify:

<?php
$glob['dbdatabase'] = 'mydatabase'; // database name
$glob['dbhost'] = 'localhost'; // probably localhost, maybe www.yourdomain.com
$glob['dbpassword'] = 'mydbpassword'; // database password
$glob['dbprefix'] = ''; // the database (or possibly table) prefix. Leave blank if this is your only DB.
$glob['dbusername'] = 'myusername'; // database user with sufficient privileges
$glob['installed'] = '0'; // site specific config variable. Probably set once the install process is complete.
$glob['rootDir'] = '/home2/webadmin/www.mydomain.com/htmldocs/'; // Your host can give you this path.
$glob['rootRel'] = ''; // the relative root of your files. Probably blank or even just '/', given the variable below.
$glob['storeURL'] = 'http://www.mydomain.com'; // This is site-specific again, but it's probably the full domain URL
?>
Anything else, feel free to hit me up. I'll hopefully have my Internet connection hooked up tomorrow morning...

So after 2 weeks of work I will be starting over from scratch.

I appreciate your guys offer to answer questions that may arise. I will take you up on it. It will probably be in a week or 2 when I get back to the point where I lossed everything. I had it backed up but it is not working... Oh well

I will be hitting you guys up for some basic question soon though hahah I am taking the long way home.

OK Here is a question

My store is in a file /public_html/

My question is how do I get my index page to be the home page of my store.

I want www.mywebite.com to automatically direct the customer to www.mywebsite.com/public_html/storeindex

I know it is probably real simple but this is the stumping me. I ruined a weeks worth of work messing with files trying to accomplish this. So now I figured I will first get this straight before I do anything else.

themoch

public html should be the "root" of your website... so by making an index file in the /public_html/ folder it will be the one people see when they go to www.yourwebsite.com

skip
06-21-2006, 02:57 PM
OK so if I understand correctly It "should" automatically got to the index page in that folder.

It did not do that when I tried it before my site crashed. It said the page could no be found when I typed in my address. But if I typed in the /public_html/ after the address it would take me there.

Should I just assume that I will be able to get this resolved and continue building my site? It seems so basic but I don't want to upload all my photos and images then have to change file locations messing up the "root?" to my images. and giving me the stupud red X's where my photos should be.

Make sense?????

I have an example here on Vapor glass's site

www.vaporglass.com

and then you are automatically directed to

http://www.vaporglass.com/servlet/StoreFront

That is what I want to accomplish

ANy ideals?

I just found a php code online that will redirect traffic to my /store....

I let ya know if it works

themoch
06-22-2006, 05:14 AM
skip,

there are a bunch of ways you can have something redirected to another place. It really depends on what you are trying to do. if the shopping cart system you have needs to be in a specific folder, then you can have your "index" file in your root folder just autodirect through a meta tag.

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=http://addressOfYourStoreHere">

you stick this in between the "head" tags and change the URL in the tag to your store, the rest of the page(or the stuff between the body tags) can be left blank... and when people go to your main site, it directs them to the new one... this is considered a "sloppy" way to go about it, but it will work.

If you have a file at http://www.mywebsite.com/index.php that contains the following four lines, it's more elegant. Also, it's run server-side, so it happens virtually instantaneously.

<?php
header('HTTP/1.1 302 Found');
header('Location: http://www.mywebsite.com/public_html/storeindex');
?>

You guys are great.... I tested the php looks good.

I want to use the html redirect to make "ghost?" pages so that all the old html pages that I have on google and yahoo's search engine will reirect . I ran into a problem, Sure it's real simlple looks like I may need to fix the root>?????

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /html/aboutus-1.htm/ on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Primathon
06-23-2006, 10:01 AM
Don't use the HTML redirect for this - use the PHP header script above but change the first line to 'HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently' - this tells the user's browser (and Google's index) that the page has permanently moved to the new location, and that they should update their bookmarks (which optimally happens automatically).

Also, when trying to access /html/aboutus-1.htm/, that trailing slash on the end tells the server that you're looking for a directory. Just have it point to /html/aboutus-1.htm and you should be good to go.

Thanks Primathon. I will PM you soon. I had to "walk away" from this for a few days. The wife has been working a tradeshow and I am watching my son all weekend. I have succesfully accomplished everthing but this darn redirect. It soo simple too I am sure...

Anyways HEre is another question to anyone that may know the answer. They put Powered by cubecart in the Browser title. That means it will show up in the search engine title>???

If so I want it out. I don't mind it in the footer. I am a little tight on cash for the license fee. So umm my question is... how could I get it out of the browser title? Would they know? What would they do?

Here's their standard reply of license agreement.

Many people ask if they can change the copyright notices which are output on the font end of the store.

Our answer to this is that you can only remove or change the text in the page footer and browser title with a license key purchase.

You may not modify the text at all without a license key purchase.

For example if you change the footer text to "powerd by CubeCart" instead of "Powered by CubeCart 3.x.x Copyright Devellion Limited 200x. All rights reserved." you are breaking our license agreement.

Common questions:
1. Can I change the CubeCart logo without a license key purchase?

Yes you may remove or change this without a license key purchase.

2. Can I remove the (Powered by CubeCart) from the browser title and leave the bottom copyright (or vice versa)?

No - Sorry but they must both remain without modification at all.

3. Can I change the position/style of the footer text.

Yes - You may move this and change the colour or the text using CSS only to make the look and feel of your store.

4. Is the branding and copyright removed from admin pages with a license key?

No - These remain in place after a license key has been imported. However you are permitted to remove them manually if you desire.

Please remember that the CubeCart software packages must ONLY be distributed from CubeCart.com and no other servers or domains. It is not open source software and must not be used or rebranded as an alternatively named cart solution for free or profit.

Devellion Limited is a company registered in England & Wales under number 5323904 and have the right to prosecute anybody breaking our license agreement in the courts of England and Wales.

If you don't have a license key, then it's breaking the agreement. It's up to you if you want to risk it - they may catch you, they may not. I doubt this software has any phone-home functionality, but you never know... Also, they're in the UK, so prosecuting someone in the states is going to be a bitch for them. In the end, though, it's your call.

I can think of two ways right off the top of my head where that text would be. The first (and most likely) place is in between any and all <title></title> tags. These occur in any HTML document up near the top, and that's the first place I'd look. The second (more complicated) method would be an included javascript file that dynamically modifies the page title. While more unlikely, the advantage there is that removal of the .js file would fix the 'problem' on all pages.
