In this course, Jupiter Nielsen will share his 20 years of experience making solid sculpture with boro color. We are lucky to live in a time where we have so many beautiful colors available to us in the borosilicate glass palette. It can be a bit overwhelming though trying to figure out the subtleties of each of them. The focus of this class will be on color application for solid sculpture but the skills will apply to hollow forms as well. Jupiter's unique way of layering colors will be demonstrated while he creates many different plants and critters. Students can create work similar to the demos or bring their own ideas. Jupiter will help you to find the best way to make your idea work with his methods. Special focus will be on remixing color rods with each other and with clear glass to create unique tints and large scale masses of consistent, easy to work with colored borosilicate glass.
