hello to you...I'm back at my torch after taking a few years off..nice to find you & be able to reach out for some help ...I hate to start with a dumb question. I'm more of an artist than a scientist...

I've had an airsep oxygen generator that was purchased back in 2001...(I think) I called the airsep corp about maintenance, like new carbon (?) filters...they said my model is now obsolete.

can any of you smart people tell me if these concentrators ever wear out? I turn mine on, it still sounds pretty good, but I wonder...
do I really need a newer one?

what if any are symptoms that it is not working up to standard(?) It does limit what you can do, but I used to manage..I'm not planning to work very large, I use a lynx Gtt torch

any insights that will help me ...very appreciated

They wear out mostly based on hours of use, time sitting around shouldn't hurt anything much. You should be fine.

Also, if they don't make the filters, check ebay, they sell all sorts of after market filters, shouldn't be hard to find one meant to work on yours.

Humidity is not good for the sieve beds.

That's true, but the sieve beds should be sealed away from the atmosphere when powered off just by design, the only time they are getting exposed to humidity in the air is when the machine is running.
