So I have had my mirage for about 3 years now. Occasionally, when I would turn my torch off, I hear a "tink" coming from the head of the torch. I assume that this i just the metal cooling down and I have never thought anything of it. Recently the torch has been "tinking" alot more and not just when the torch is cooling down, it is happening while I'm running the torch. I notice it happening most often when I'm just running the lynx portion of the torch.

So has anyone else experienced this? Do I need to send in to W&W? Maybe I'm just paranoid, I don't know. I don't see any noticable damage anywhere, like a crack or anything.

Guess I'm just lookin for some feedback.

Thanks,
Boatman

Try running more oxy. through the outer fire. the jets should have blue tips if the flame is smaller than 1/4 inch. if the jets have orange tips with a small flame you are damaging the torch. I'm sure you are fine, but remember in the warmer months to run more oxy through both the inner and outer fire.

Watch the DVD that came with your torch if you still have it. If you didn't get one P.M. me and I'll see what I can do, I think I have a few extra laying around. :D

From what you're describing, it sounds like the torch is o.k.. It is unusual for it to do that, though. It is possible that it could be caused by moisture that over time has left some mineral deposits. Or, it could be from fuming getting somewhere in between two parts that normally would not be in contact but as stuff builds up inside, it gets a little tight in there and causes the tinking when the metal expands and contracts.

You can call Wally at (610) 838-2446 and see what he says.

Just remember to follow your gut when it comes to stuff like this if it seems fishy just send it in and get the free tune up, and if that doesn't fix it go form there.
