Quartz dab bowls/bangers carb caps..whats the deal?

I am new to the concept of dabbing and using quartz items.
What im seeing with prices for quartz items has me a little confused. I have a couple questions..Maybe someone can enlighten me?
I understand quartz has excellent thermal properties...so does the "normal" boro we use? Cooking pans are a good example.
Is boro that bad for "bangers" or bowls or whatever we are callin em now?

I keep seeing what i think is a few dollars worth of quarzt, worked into a basic shape...selling for 60-300$ is there some legit reason for the huge expense? Its the same torches n equipment? Using hydrogen..?

Is anyone making whole pipes or artwork out of quartz?

Borosilcate won't hold up to the fast heating/cooling cycles. If its anything other than the banger /bucket whatever you call it, its most likley not quartz.

Grab a piece of quartz, put it in your glass torches flame. The bright blinding linght, and the fact that its stiffer than.... Jimmy the Don... you will start to understand its a necesity , and a inconvience to work in most situations.

My carlisle centerfire on propane did ok to shape a quartz nail. It was not fun by any means. Prehaps hydrogen is the ticket, but i bet it gets stiff quick out of the flame.

heres the thing about the banger market....

its become the new "heady" thing to spend 200+ on a name brand american made bucket that yes... at best is a few dollars worth of quartz.

Now the scientists over on instagram and such will have you believe that buying a 15 dollar chinese made banger will kill you from off gases, due to poor quartz quality.

This is obviously BS to anyone that understands the working temps of glass and especially quartz. buy a cheap banger. there is no justification not to. unless you want to be a cool kid on instagram. then go hard.

yeah son, I keep china quartz on the shelf to help sell pieces and I dab out of them. Honestly I put them through as much hell as possible just to see what happens. I really want to do quartz myself but I am caught up in boro.

Here they call em bangers instead of buckets. And in my experience they are boro not quartz (no matter what they say, even after I say I have been into glass for more than a decade). Sad state of affairs.

I have heard rumors of receiving boro bangers from china, but never seen one, I have only seen a few people make them from boro, but its just like a boro fuming rod..... whats the point really. After I got my first piece of quartz i wont even waste my metals mounting on boro

yeah exactly... eventually the boro will crack from the repeated heating and cooling. the only real danger is burns or possibly starting a fire if it shatters and falls onto something while hot.

massive difference, boro buckets are more retarded than quartz but i do agree about the nail son. I want an e nail soooo bad.
