Hey folks. Robert Mickelsen was originally coming to AGI just to hang out with us, but he would like to do some demonstrations while he is here, and he asked what I would like him to do. Instead of making the decision myself, I thought I would ask all of you what you would like to see. With that in mind, do you have any suggestions?
Ram will be checking in soon, so please post your suggestions in this thread.

I'ld like to see electroforming or how he incorporates other mediums in his work

I could do a lecture on electroforming, but a demo is impractical. Would that suffice? Anyone else like this idea?

Do the fly and the praying mantis only instead of green use green exotic for the outer shell.

I did a crouching tiger and a hidden dragon..trouble is, you couldn't see em :D
A little lecture on the steel wool application process as well as incorporating metal mounts would be nice to include too.

hey ram, would it be possible to demo any of your sandblasting and oil painting techniques? that looks like it would be so much fun to play with....
or how about a graal demo?

Well, from what I am hearing, the consensus is that everyone is interested in the various ways I treat the surface of the glass. Rather than demonstrating one or any of these, I think it might be more informative to do a lecture with detailed images of several of these techniques. Such a presentation would probably be 45 minutes to an hour long allowing for a question and answer period to follow. In this lecture, I would cover sandblasting with resists, graal, oil painting, metal leafing, and electroforming. Does that please everyone?

That sounds good to me, but don't hold out on the steel wool thing that was mentioned before.
Anything about shapes?

The steel wool is simply wadded into the desired shape and glued on. Hardly worth a lecture IMHO... ;)

Figured that..but your the only one I've seen using it, was a nice touch though. I use to do blown balls and attach them directly to the center piece with thin wire by crimping, wire was steel, and had no cracking problems, just had to pre-heat the wire carefully, or it would disinigrate.

Hey Robin,
How about something old school like a pelican with a fish on a pilon. I have one from about twenty plus years ago from a rather famous guy. Classic clear sculpture . Mounted on wood.
See you in a few days.
