B Real (Cypress Hill, “funky feel tips”) just told me he is the inventor of the glass j tip. I’m taking his word for it unless I find otherwise.... But I feel like I saw these waaaay before B Real and roor made them.
Does anyone know the history of the pinched glass tip that you roll into a j?

I've made one. Seems that most glass blowers would have come up with the idea. Kind of like a poker..

Got a pic of an example? Cause I'm not sure what you're referring to.

Oh I see. We call them joint holders around here. Been using and making them forever.

I played paintball against b real in denver back when i was in middle school at a NPPL event. I had no idea who "The Stoned Assassins" were or that they were a famous rap group but one of the older guys on my team told me who they were. So i decided to do a run threw and take as many down as i could. Ended up bunkering b reall, then later my gun got stolen. What a tournament. Never knew id look back on that like i do now.
This is why when i make something crazy and my girl goes " did anyone ever make one of those before?" i always say "yeh im sure somewhere, but ive never seen one"

When i hear joint holder, I think those flat round toke stones, with a hole down the middle, you can stick a J in them. These are more like inserts into the J, not really a holder, as much as an insert tip.
The phunky tips have a carb tho right?

wait... is that just a glass crutch? I mean, that's probably one of the very first functional things I made with glass in like 2000... if it's what I think it is... just a little 2" length of 9.5 scored and fire polished?
Does this go INSODE or OUTSIDE of the rolling paper? They look too big to go inside?

Yeh we grew up calling them crutches too. These look like u stick your rolled herbs inside it to me. I doubt many people could figure out how to use them on the inside like some paper even though that would work much better.

Yes. With little pokes in it, to roll inside.
Looking to find the origins of this thing.
I usually have answers when the young guys ask me a ‘pipe history’ question.
I’m clueless on this one, need help from my OG’s.

Snodgrass was def one of the first if not the first to make these. "doobie holders" as he calls them - maybe a little different than a glass crutch. B-Real may be a dope rapper, but he did not invent the glass tip:chainsmk:
