Question: Any idea who started the first forum for degenerate pipe makers over 15 years ago? Haha.
How’s old school life?
What does a guy who’s been in it so long think of the contemporary market?
What are you up to?
What are you making?
What’s up, KT? [emoji16]

Old School is going pretty good. Paying the bills, at least.
This one's kinda tricky...
I was overjoyed to see where it was going several years ago with the artistic movement and sculptural side of things. The past few years, it seems to have reverted to more of the heady style with newer bells and whistles.
Me, I'm up to getting my life back in order after a few years in the gutter. Divorce... Personal struggles... Now remarried and back on the road to recovery.
For the past 7-8 years it's been strictly production spoons, bubblers, and onies (with the occasional rig here and there). I'm trying to break away from that now.
It's good to be back, Maestro!

Best way to invest 20k as far as equipment?Send it my way! I take direct deposit and cash! LOL
20K... I'd drop it on a great bench torch, quality tools, a good lathe (capable of 75mm at least), several hand torches, and excellent ventilation.

Whats your favorite torch?I currently work with a Phantom, but my personal favorite is a Mirage.
I've worked with many in the past, but the Mirage has been my personal favorite.

Whats you favorite budget glass? China? SBA?As a production worker for the past several years, I work with Chinese.
After almost 20 years, prodo piece prices have stayed the same while material prices and gas/oxy prices have increased by 50%-150%.
I've got to cut costs as much as I can.
If I have anything that needs better glass, I pick up the newer Pyrex that MGA carries.

What makes a good lathe torch? Is a carriage mount torch even needed?
(Total noob here with a Mirage.)

(Total noob here with a Mirage.)Red Max hand torches and National hand torches have been my go to for lathe work in the past (and still would be). Bunsen burners are good for preheating and keeping pieces warm. I admit, I have no experience with carriage burners.
