Took a little break from glass.

Don't know how many of you are familiar with target archery, but I'm pretty proud of myself for not shooting after about 15 years with no sight from 20 yards (60 feet).

I've always wanted to learn to use a bow!! I'm not sure that I have the strength in my hands to pull back the sting, though. And I'm not sure what that string is called but I'm betting it's not "string" :lol

Looks fun.

Misha, pretty sure it's a string :archer1: or bowstring :archer2: Maybe you could use a release aid to help.

I should see what I can dig out of the recesses of my shed. Pretty sure I buried my bow when I brought home my torch. Also pretty sure I would wreck my shoulder....

I used to shoot a long bow when i was a kid. It was super fun, untill i had to find the arrows haha.

My friend's backyard, back in the day . . .
Shoot arrow straight up, lose sight of it, run for cover under a detached camper.

Haven't used a bow since high school...20 something years? But definitely was fun! Don't know if I could stay steady with a recurve at this point so props to you Kris! Misha, if you really want to try and are worried about strength check out a compound bow. They have pullies on the bowstring so it takes less to pull it back and completely releases tension when at ready/aiming.

Compound bow huh. I'll try really hard to remember that name. I think there might be an archery place not too far from here, I'll look into it. Thanks!

Misha, they are made in many draw weights (how much it takes to pull the string back) starting at around 10 lbs up to 75 lbs or more. Mine is 40 lbs but am about to have to get a new one. Probably going to go with one that has 2 sets of limbs (40 lb and 55 lb).

I just ordered another bow with a lower weight to work on my form again. I've realized that it's been so long that I've lost my form and need to get it back in order before stepping up to heavier weights.

I actually prefer traditional archery and shooting off the shelf instead of using an arrow rest.

I've ordered a bow with a lighter draw weight to work on my form again after going so long without shooting.
