I have been playing around with shape and form in solid glass the last few days. The results; here are some new stands that I am taking with me to the Seattle Show. The pictures don't really do 'em justice - I was in a hurry. Let me know some feedback if you would.

Oh yea, the last thing I am trying to figure out is some sort of pad for the marbles to sit on so it's not glass-on-glass. Maybe a stickey-pad, or some sort of paint-on rubber, etc. etc. The stands utilize pieces of tubing that I cut and flame polished, and they hold the marbles rather well, but I have found people walk up to the stands and turn the marbles. They aren't really leaving marks on the marbles, but I think I would feel better selling them if they had some sort of padding. Any ideas?

Wow....

You should maybe consider a little piece of felt to pad the marble, you could probably get it in matching colors too.

Who knew marble stands could be just as cool as the marble?

nate, those are TOTALLY AWESOME......

the colored felt pads area good idea.
or maybe incorporate some bits of textile and or other random finds as elements of the stand...to be used visually as well as function as padding....turn it into a mixed media piece....

N8, those are gr8. I really like the shaping, and the colors really work well with the marbles. I think you should definitely sell the solid cane marble stand with those two matching marbles as a set. They look so good together, I can't imagine it apart. I've been thinking about doing some marble stands, but these are so much better than what I was envisioning. Awesome work.

Ben

P.S.-We should try to rage some marbles at AGI this year. I'm going to try to convince my buddy to bring his Delta Mag, so hopefully we can make something crazy.

Nate in eugene go to either Jo-ann Fabrics or Ben franklin both will have what your looking for. Btw when you showed me these months ago I thought they were bad ass , but it was a bad move showing them here because you know the biters are gonna come out of the woods now LOL!

Whatever! You know there's no money in marbles...therefore, there's no incentive for the biters to bite! LOL

Nice work. They really compliment the marbles well.
Felt with a sticky backing would work good. like this :
