I work a day job and now after 2 years have a studio again.
I wait all day to get home.
Put on some music
Have a safety break and a ciggy.
Get the kiln hot, my torch lit then......
Nothing. Nothing at all.
I cannot for the life of me think what to make. Every time.
Anyone else get this? It’s kinda a mix between my bottle oxy and glass cost so much I don’t wanna waste it. I wanna make pipes but I can’t decide on a specific tech. Guh.
I’ve lost my mojo. :(

Just make a pipe mang and break the ice. I start with my favorite. Like a Sherlock bubbler today.

I would force myself to make a mid sized marble, a pendant, a spoon and a bottle. every day.

Getting off the oxygen bottle would be a big help, you wont feel rushed or the financial waste if a piece goes in the scrap bucket.
You can slow down and take the few seconds to perfect each step. Also push your limits when you don't have to worry about wasting oxygen.

Try just making the perfect spoon and Sherlock using clear. Clear don't lie and goes into you case nicely as an example of good shaping and consistent wall thickness.
Fume the clear as a finishing touch if you want.

Good luck. :)

Lots of times, that's why I keep a notebook with me to jot down ideas so I can look back at them when I'm standing there with torch block.

I can stay busy with orders. But sometimes I get bored of the same thing all the time and that makes me slow. So I try to mix it up.

I would just make what ever you have the most fun making. Thats why i make what i make, and i think it shows in my glass.

Sure would be nice making only what you want but what about money as a motivation. Paying the bills is a good motivation as well.

This is really good advice.

I’m going to make a spin station out of different color combinations than normal to spice it up. I get bored making bubblers all day. I think that is a mental block as well.

A matching spoon , bubbler or sherlock and matching stash jars are fun. I need to get after doing more of those.

It time to pump out some Christmas ornaments too.
