I miss the old board, this board needs a "rants" section where people who have problems can take the gloves off and tell it like it is.

Tryin to make this board more "professional" discounts the fact that 90% of the members here are punk ass pipemakers. Then we have things like the Luke Baylie thread which kinda blows the whole professional vibe out of the water anyways.

Just my $.02, this board was more fun when it wasn't so heavily moderated.

Dude give me a break everyone was an asshole and not one shared knowledge freely or anything. Things are organized and everyone acts appropriately to one another ...most of the time. It's sad when you get people who can’t face people in public and seem to only have balls on their finger tips!! For some reason you must think we want to hear about your disputes with people?

Baylie's thread is here because it's a business transaction and people are trying to collect money. I haven't carefully read it, but from what I've seen, it has remained respectful.

I dunno, even if it is immature or whatever, that stuff is funny. The Ashby 87 thread was hilarious! If someone doesn't have the mental prowness to keep from getting owned they could keep their mouth shut or not go into the rants section (if this board had one).

Whatevah, this board is great how it is, I just think it'd be more lively with some drama. The old board that was more of a free for all definately seemed to get more posts. I applaud all your efforts to make pipemaking into a more legit artform, but I doubt it will ever happen or even if it should.

Strictly my personal opinion, if you agree or disagree whatever. I respect those working to legitamize and mainstream the art of pipemaking and gain more respect for it from established art forums, but I think it should stay a underground art movement. Things that go mainstream seem to lose their vitality pretty quick. Also I doubt that it will ever happen, at least not before marijuana is legalized. Anyways, this medium is already suffering from a onslaught of cheap imports, the more mainstream it goes, the worse this will probably get. Rather then work to try and get the pipemaking art recognized by mainstream galleries, I'd rather embrace the counterculture ideals pipes represent and not care what gallery owners think. The very fact that it is a art form of rebellion makes it that much more legitimate IMO, alot more legit then some of the prodo crap I see passed off as fine art at the gallery level. Along with that would come the understanding that alot of pipemakers are very nonconformist, and not particularly politically correct, hence the rants section.

Skateboarding isn't a crime anymore, but wasn't it more fun when it was?

Um....no,
Apparently you never had to pay a 150 dollar fine for skateboarding,
Or speand a summer in Juvie.

Imo....your opinion sucks.

Btw....
pipes can be art, even if the popular opinion says otherwise.....and they ARE.

Actually I have paid a $50 ticket for skating. Juvie for skating? Man, you must have had a crappy lawyer.

If you want to pretend that most pipers are on top of their game, never slack, are fully professional and never do things like grow/sling nugs on the side to pay their bills, so be it. Some may fit this decription but I'll bet their in the minority. I know dozens of pipemakers around my area and most could give a rats ass about conforming to some professional ideal invented by eliteist art brokers.

Well, Back then they got you for vandalisim...not skaiting. and I also had a resisting.

Well, If you have to sell nugs to get by...then your not a very good glassblower. And to me, "most the pipemakers I know in my town" doesn't mean shit. There are thousands of pipemakers.

conforming to some professional ideal invented by eliteist art brokers.
I always thought artists determined what art is.

But hey , If you want to cause hype by playing the infidel insider, fine by me.
