Hello everyone, I am an artist who is aspiring to make the move to glasswork. It has been a dream of mine for many years, as I am trying to build a basic set up to start learning a question came to mind.

I know you can use a Oxy/acetylene regulator set up as you can run propane through acetylene gauges. My question is, can you use something similar to a bench mounted oxy/acetylene metalworking torch?

I know it would be inconvenient because of the tip sizing, but I happen to have 7 to 10 fully functional torch set ups, could I use them for borosilicate glass?
It’s not so much I don’t want a nice torch, more I have these and am curious.

Thank you all I plan to do plenty of research on here.

Depends on the torch(es), but likely yes. Victor torches (particularly ones like the J-40 and J-27) are quite common in scientific shops, as they make for great hand/lathe torches.

Good luck and happy melting!

Those torches will work fine.
