I got borostix from generations last time I got em and they are smooth and buttery. No seeds in my batch. Of course, I've only got them once ever...but I've been quite happy with them

I have never tried the bad ones. I heard they are out of production.

I've got some in stock, and all though some of it has been kinda dirty in the last six months, I've been seeing improvements, still not quite as nice as the originalz though. For a lot of applications the seeds don't really matter, ex. latticino or filligri cane...
any way, $30 lb. is my price...

I get mine from Moutain Glass arts but they call it ardvark, its always been nice from them. but i use egyptian sand now works lots better probably since borostix ins't even made for glassblowing.

Go with the parimore(sp?) white
Thats your best option to get the closest results( unless of course someone has a grip of the dwarf head stashed from years ago, and assumeing they are willing to part with that much)

Snow White is the BOMB baby.
I have a pound of white dwarf still, saving it till it's worth $10,000 a pound or till I use it, whichever comes first.
I know someone with a sack of white gun mounts also.

I got a lb. of white "Boro Bars" from Colored Sands a year or so ago and they work just like the old Borostix, nice and smooth. The only difference that I could tell was that the edges of the sticks were a little sharper and not as rounded as the Borostix were. I think they were like $35 a pound or so. I like them for outside stuff but still use Star White for everything else.

I've heard parramore colors are remelted Borostix, or borobars. has anyone else heard of this?? I'm not sure if I believe that, but it comes by word of mouth from a reputable source. are those white dwark sticks really that hard to comeby? A fellow lampworker of our has pounds of it just laying around his shop. along with all kinds of those old school corning color stick and those funky gun mounts. The whites available today are just as good if not better in my opionon. The only hard to find color that is worth it's weight in gold are Dwarf Green sticks those little beauty's are the BOMB. Sorry to ramble on. Borobar, Borostix are the product of a company called aardvark they sold the system to the current manufacturer Elan.

Rodger does remix and pull paracilicate aka..paramore color, his blues are great, but the price is somewhat high, comparable to other glass co. but, hard to find the usual 30-35% off that comes around with ns,ga,precision and momkas. Glasscraft carries paramore and does discount it sometimes..the siberia is great as well as the butter.

for the record Elan in GA is the place that makes the boro bars. Aadvark was just the first popular distrubuter of the bars...
