Websites I've never been to are emailing me.... certain ones I've never visited. They had my basic personal info. hey you guys here know I am tight with my oldschool info. I have been geting this for a short time now, and now the recent fused emails that i never sent are a sure tip off.
Because of all the sites/emails content I am sure it is someone that reads at this site.
I doubt it's a regular poster or anyone good at glass ;). But there are certain reasons I know it's someone here that some folks will understand why i know and some dont.

I've been getting those "delivery status failure" notifications in my inbox too lately. It's as though someone is remotely using my e-mail account to send out spam...some kind of filthy internet venereal disease that I've picked up surfing? surfer's itch...do any of you techwizards know about this kind of thing, I just use the fucking thing, I don't understand how it works!

If you have picked up something you could have a long road of recovery ahead of you. If you use a mail service right on your computer (like outlook express) then there is a good chance that your comp might be sending those mails. For malware help check out these 2 links. One will walk you through the initial steps of checking your comp and the other walks you through the preventive mesures so it wont happen in the future (for the most part).

The Mods on that forum are really good at sticking with you through your fix as long as you read and do all in the first link before you post with your problem.

Hope it helps and good luck

or it could be some asshat using your email addy at protocol level (ie. spoofing)
if you spoof a message to somewhere and it bounces, the fail notice goes back to the email addy you spoofed it from
but yeh, your box sending them (virus/malware) is a pretty solid possibility too.

I've been getting those emails as well. When I checked into it and checked out my computers, I was told that there were no viruses on my computers. They said it could be any of the hundreds of people that I have emailed in the past that still have my address saved on their computer.

Yeah, I have had the issues Mr. Jiminiyrootkit describes.
Some dickwad sends out spam and for some reason, chooses your email address (probably randomly) as the return address.
Email is completely insecure and unverified - anyone can send mail claiming it from anyone elses email, and only a careful lookover of the headers could disprove it.
So, then you get mail from servers in South Africa and so on saying this or this address is invalid and here's the bounced message. In my case, it was some crap selling Cialis.

Does anyone really buy counterfeit Cialis, Viagrea, or refinance their mortgages through these stupid mails? I guess so. Probably the same people that send money to Nigerians.
