I have crazy sensitive eyes and Mike A has once again suited my needs with my new "torque" frames. With this new line of glasses you will comfortably work next to somebody and get absolutely no side flare from the torch next to you. They are padded on the inside which helps with the sweat in your eye, and it also seems to seal your eye within the lens protecting it form the initial radiant heat. My lenses are split 7on top 8 on bottom and I'm in love!!!

I think they make me look better than i did withth e bug eyes or plastic frames, I wasnt asking how I looked anyway, Iwas telling how awsome my new glasses are and how if you had any cash to get new ones or are looking for new ones ,these ones come highly recommended! the frames are designed for riding motorcycles so they keep the wind/light out of your eyes.
P.S>BTW P D I am soo not gay I proved it to your mom last night!!

Your new glasses are so badd-ass and shiny!
Seriously folks, these glasses RULE! I wore them once and I even thought about 'borrowing' them from Matt when he wasn't looking. (What?! He can't use 'em right now anyway!!!) I didn't though because I am a man of the Lord. Christ, and I just don't do that kind of shit! But that's how powerful these glasses are!!!

ive been useing didyniums with a shade 5 clip on (actually taped on) for way to long and want to upgrade to some aur 386's but it seems almost stupid expensive for us to pay 400 dollars for us that want to not go blind and it just seems to me like that is ridicoulusly marked up price i mean how much does it really cost to laminate 2 pieces of glass together and cut the lens to fit a pair of glasses i hardly believe that its 400$ it just seems like someone is trying to profit off are fears and the reality that we will go blind without them

...and its some kind of privilage to pay 2 grand for a torch?
its just good old fashioned american capitalism. we built a whole country on it.

Hey MAtt are they the biker frame? If so we bought a few pairs about 8-9months ago and the lenses fell out and one lens broke. I love the style of these new frames they are sick. I know they were not this same frame but look very close. I also think glasses are very exspensive for the every day JOE, but shit man they are your eyes and you can't ever get your sight back after you have fried them.
Peace
Abe

Rob I hear you on the price.... I paid it a long time ago and still have the glasses today.
The didy shade combo worked well for me all the years before I got Auras too though.
I can say the comfort of not having the weight and eliminating the reflection between the flip downs and the didys lenses with the 2 lenses being laminated togethor were the biggest relief.
Worth the price???? well I guess being there are no other options in between. It is a tough call.

Abe, these are not the biker frames, the biker is small and doesn't give you near the coverage or the comfort of these frames. They have a thicker more comfortable frame and padding on the eye sockets which helps keep out harmfull light. Btw Abe these are called the "Torque" frames, if you didnt catch that already. Mike also uses his largest blank so they are big lenzes.

It costs me a little over a dollar to make an I/O panker and I charge 10-25 each...capitalism is a two-way street. Hey, I don't love the markup on the glasses either, but all things considering...

..exactly. theres alot of equiptment and expertise and research that went into gluing those lenses together. same as when you make an item that cost you a dollar. you have the overall costs of keeping up a shop and a substaincial investment behind you but the customer only sees the glass on your website or on the table out on the lot.
nobody works for free. even a co-op has to make a profit to keep the lights on so to speak. it know it hurts to come up with 3 or 4 bills to get quality eye protection but well worth the investment.
Yeah the cost of materials is just that THE COST OF MATERIALS.
It is not the cost of running a business. Research and development, Insurance, advertising and marketing, and on and on and on.

one of the other folks in a class I was taking picked up a nice lightweight pair of didymium specs from these folks:
http://www.phillips-safety.com/ps/c-12-glass-blowing-eyewear.aspx
I gotta say some of them aren't terribly fashionable, but their price for boros is pretty rockin'. 145 (the bug eyed patriot frame) ain't so bad given the half laminated pair like my teacher had I've seen listed for 290 or so elsewhere.
