at my shop back home i use a oversized modified squurrel cage thats 3000 cfm and a hood type set up, but im setting up a shop here in montreal for a couple months and theres a window right in front of where my bench is going to be, now ive seen in some shop pics with set ups with fans in the window type set up. ive searched all over for these type of fans within reasonable priceing with no luck. none of the hardware stores carry anything like this. anyone have any idea what kind of place carrys these things? and what kind of fan they are called? i want to avoid hooking up a squrrel cage and duct cause its a pain in the ass!!
thanks in advance!
Randy

You're thinking of attic fans. Home Depot or Lowe's carry them, but I'm not sure if they are in Canada.

Good luck.

Well, it may not be as nice as a sick ass vent-hood, but make no mistake; it's much better than nothing.

I got a hampton bay floor fan from home depot. The box said something like 9000 cfms on high. I took the legs and front cage off and mounted it to a hole in the wall. Even on low it works better then the attic ventilators I've had.

thanks guys, no we dont have lowes here in canada and it seems the only attic fans home depot is carrying are these new passive ones that dont use a fan. but they had this one floor model hampton bay thing that seems pretty powerful it was the last one (floor model) so i grabbed it up. should be good enogh for a month or 2!! sounds like the same thing yu got markuz!

sounds like you're set, but one other thing to suggest.... Over near the bathroom vents they have some duct fans that you could probably easily set up too. I have no idea the movement rates on them though.
