this has been posted about in another thread, but in case you missed it, this week (august 21-27, 2006) is the Toledo Museum of Art's Glass Pavillion grand opening. the 26th and 27th are open to non-members, and it really is a spectacular building. if you are in the area, stop on in and be wowed!

hot shops, cold shop, flameworking, casting, fusing, slumping, stained glass, etc.....

the opening starts tomorrow, and it looks like we'll be ready by about next thursday :)

Teasel, that's pretty sweet. I can tell you're all kinds of excited. I can't wait until I come back to Ohio so I can check it out. Are the flameworking stations going to be open for rent or just used for workshops, or has that even been determined yet?

I, for one, can't wait!

Hope I can get a nap and get over there today in time for the Staff Preview this afternoon. I have to go sign my contracts and take care of some other stuff anyway.

The flameworking studio is a wonder to behold. The ventilation system is a work of art. Seriously. I'm pleased beyond measure to have been involved with this project, even on a minimal level.

it's a marvel to be sure!!!

the flameworking studio is currently only for classes, but in the long run will also be available for some rental times as well. the only drawback is that there are only 2 regulator sets and the carlisle took the wind out of the bethlehems when they were both running. that said, it beats the hell out of an old garage!!!

tink and prarie, i'll introduce myself if i see you later this week. ive been so busy helping set the place up that i havent even had a chance to check my forums or email.

ok, i'm sweaty and nasty from the evenings festivities. off to shower and bed. its gonna be a looong week.

see ya!!

We had a BLAST last night! The demos went great, and it was so good to see folks I haven't seen in a while. Fred Birkhill popped in for a bit --- I love Fred :-)

Here are some pics of the flameworking studio. The table is HUGE. Only one torch was set up last night, but this should give you an idea of the size of things:
