I am a bit confused when I read about the part of implosion that says, "keep the disk in the flame like keeping a tire on its' tread" because there are 2 ways to do that, one shown as the first pix and the other as shown in the second pix. Remember, I have been making marbles for only 8 months now and need your help. Which way is the "correct" way to hold the disk in the flame... parallel to the flame (the first pix) OR perpendicular to the flame (second pix)? Does it matter? Thanks for your help (and Chad, I am trying to get your email too).

Hi Rich, I find that with soft glass you just need to get the "face of the glass hot, ie the surface with your decoration on. if you get this nice and hot and soft then press it face down on a marver and press the back a little you will see your flower petals spread as you press. for a "boro type implosion dont press just let it implode slowly, you may need to come out of the flame to "slow down" I don't think there is a "right or wrong" way to do anything just what works for you.

how you do it will also effect how the final product looks. just practice and play with it a bit . you can slightly implode things or make them real deep into the piece. have fun great tech lots of varitions and fun to be had enjoy. peace brett

I always (naturally) rotated the top towards the torch but since Matt mentioned rotating top away from the torch it seems to melt in more efficiently.
