After 3 years of wishing I could go to AGI this was my year............what an unforgettable life changing experiance it was for me !!
The demonstartions were amazing especially Emillios.............I have never aspired to make a goblet and frankly never thought I would be interested in making one however after the simplistic way he broke all the steps down...........well now I want to make a goblet lol
I have heard Henry talk about color before and went to his presentation not thinking I would understand much more this time around than I did 4 years ago.............I was delighted when everything he was saying fell into to place and to watch Sebastion show how to work the crayons and the amazons. The second the presentation was over I hooked up my Nortel burner and tried ......and failed.......tried again .failed again....lol...and then went and got Henry. He showed me how to find the neutral flame.........what I used to think was a neutral flame was in fact a reducing flame. Then Sebastion came over and worked the amazon night on my torch, I tried again and low and behold I achieved the same effect that Sebastion said we would get. I was thrilled. Thanks Henry and Sebastion for opening that door for me.
It was really neat the way that Shane did his presentation on the history of boro and lampworkers and then to have the privilage of meeting Bill Rasmussen (sp) who is very much a part of that history and to watch him work. It meant more to me to meet him after I heard the history than I think it would of if the demos had been reversed. I was delighted to add one of his pieces to my collection.
I think the two people that I came away being the most impressed with were the hosts Tom and Elaine..........I have heard people say on this forum that their lives have been changed by attending AGI and I have to say that is true for me as well. To host an event that is so helping the lampworking art and the people behind the art is amazing. I can only imagine the work that goes on before during and after and from the bottom of my heart Tom and Elaine Thank you for all that you do.
Although I am not a camera nut I tried to do a photo diary as I knew I would never remember all of the beautiful and somewhat unusual art I was seeing when I have time to unpack I will post pics
