I'm sure there's a mistake ...... it's the borderline that slows all the shit up and probably opened it aswell. those guys ship the goods.

i can see them not including the invoice to save you duty hastles at the border but thats fucked up i was tempted by that sale also sorry to hear u got ripped off though i had my parents shipping me color across the border no problems the glass was never touched or moved around the box was just opened and i highly doubt customs would need colored glass rods for something let alone know what they were used for

Hell yea!! chris and john are on there shit... being up in canada most of us are just used to being dicked around at the border i always get stuck waiting for my goods when i have to order something from down there.. one being taxed out the ass and two everthing i get shipped UPS gets tore open at the border?? and i get stuck with mad fees!! so i gues im just giving my kudos to phatty glassworks for being competitive ,kind helpful and most importantly my shit is always packed tighter than anything ive ordered from anywhere else!!
Cheers guys and keep up the good work!!

Oh Brother!
I missed out on this thread until it was edited and peoples concerns were removed, so let me try and clear things up a bit, while remembering that I missed the exact details of this post.
First, the timing issue.
-As Phatty is located in Canada it is prudent to add that we are here primarily to service Canadian glassblowers, saving them the hassles of dealing across the border. During some of our sales we have been approached by Americans to fill orders, as we are not prone to discrimination we accepted those orders. In order to be fair I cross the border into Washington and ship all such boxes domesticly, saving the border hassles again. In such cases we do our best to warn the customer of the delay between trips to washington. Homer's box was ordered 2 weeks before my trip to eugene for flameoff and was slowed as i mailed it just before leaving eugene instead of when i arrived there, my bad, i cost him a week because of my lagging. because it was shipped ground it did take a week from that point.
Second, the condition of the package, and for this you will have to believe that there is a first time for everything
-The box was shipped via UPS, originally weighing in at 9lbs with the dimensions of 4"x4"x48". The box that arrived weighed 4.5lbs and was 4"x4"x24". The box had literally been severed in half and the open end, taped like a bandaid. Thus Homer was missing half his order and his invoice (in that half of the box i guess). And I don't blame him one bit for wondering WTF?
Good news, the box was insured and Homer will have his replacement glass right away wether or not i get paid from the claim.
At this time I'd like to add that Phatty's standard of packing is high enough that while every shipment from Phatty is insured this is only our third claim in 6 years.
Thanks be to Skullfish and Mistahead for having my back on our shipping practises.
Lastly, the issue of getting a hold of me personally
-I ran the raw material sales at Phatty for 9 years and some of our client roster did get accustomed to having me on hand to help out where ever and however. When my wife and I learned of our expected parenthood I referenced our entire customer base (over 200 blowers), through my effrorts I found 1 individual that stood out from the pack, John Thomas. John was originally told that such a position was temporary and I would be taking over once again when Maya turned 6 months. We worked together until Maya was born, at which time I took time off to spend time with my new born daughter. When she turned 6 months John had not only proved to be a valuable asset to Phatty but at the same time I had realized that I was stagnant in my glass production. I decided that it was time to work full time at my home shop in order to remain close to my family while expanding my glass boundaries. I am still readily available, and I want to be there for our clients in what ever capacity they need me, all one has to do is ask John to relay a message to me. As Homer learned he had me on the phone in person in a couple of hours after leaving a message, minutes after which the situation was resolved.
I would like to add that I appreciate Homer's patience and understanding in this matter.
At the same time I would like to dispell any thoughts that Phatty is in the business of profiting off of shady business actions. We are artists working for artists to improve the glassblowing scene in Canada, we are in business today in order to remove the shady characters selling supplies in Canada for huge profits taking advantage of blowers because they don't live where the materials are made.
This is Phatty Glassworks
Peace

Just like to add also that I regularly buy from Phatty and they have always been great. Only one time did I recieve a damaged package and it looked like someone had taken a baseball bat to it (obviously the postal service). Chris was quick about sending me out a second package and service has been great since.
