I don't know if a thread was already started, but thought I'd announce it here.

Chicago...Oct 14th

www.femaleflameoff.com

I've met some of the participates, at AGI and elsewhere. I'm planning to crash the girly gig...with some knowledge, and hope to help with female problems..heh heh.

I've been invited, why I don't know, maybe because i'm cute..or just because they want some instructional guidence, something Im hot at in both catagories.

Their will be some fantastic artists in attendance, and it kinda coincides with the flows latest issue...women in glass...thanks Wil.

Not all women hit like a girl...but some rock the torch like it was meant to be...so I thought I'd bring this to the forefront as its close to the date, and shit...I like woman.

I just cut my nipples half way off and jammed a water balloon in each breast, I'm trying to get about 400cc's of grape juice into them (I think that should be about a large C...that's all I need really). Then after I sew everything back together, I'm booking my flight. I'll do anything to win a hot head.

every inch will get you 30 seconds....so get ready for the best 15 seconds of your life.

there is no reason to say "ouch", you won't feel a thing.

Wait, am I trying to burn myself? Something is wrong here. Damn it, not again.

JDeMoss
09-12-2006, 02:59 PM
Okay here is a poem about how freaking cool I am......would this be considered hijacking a thread???? Oh well.

It's titled "hardcore lover"...because I'm married and sarcastic. It's way more funny if I'm actually reading it. But this will have to do. At least for anyone that knows me it should be somewhat funny, because I'm a complete dork. Yeah I use the word dork. It just looks cool.

HardCoreLover

Take off your pants, get that shirt over your head
watch out girl, I'm coming to bed
Oh, you can laugh all you want at my little threat
but you know you've wanted it from the first day we met

They call me Rico Suave, it's my.... middle name
I'm the one that put Don Juan Demarco to shame
Oh yeah, I've seen you look at me before
so now I ask, "podemos hacer el amor?"

A hard core lover...... that's what I am
smoother than silk, stronger than Van DAMN...
...I'm good, I don't mean to brag
but I could do the cover of almost every mag-
-azine, if you know what I mean.

Well, they say, "de lo bueno poco".
But when it comes to you, their all loco
I can't take you in moderation, I need you all now
and I'm gonna get it, I just need to know how.

Do you like flowers and chocalates, or is gold the key?
What am I thinking, just listen to me.
You don't need any more than my sexy self
on the bedroom floor, the bed or even the shelf

Yeah, you know you want it pretty damn bad
if you don't get it now, you'll wish you had

Okay, Okay...enough of this bull
You know of the shit, I am very full
I'm a pathetic loser, nothing but a junior high chump
I was just looking for a way for you and I to...um...possibly hump

Yeah, yeah...I still use that word
would you believe... I even say "turd"
"turd" and "hump" they are my two favorites words
what else would you expect form the king of the nerds

DAMN....what am I doing? I've got to keep up the act
I'm cooler than cool and that's a fact!
just look at me shine like the brightest star
I'm better than you.....by far, by far

So if you want....no, no, no...So WHEN you want to get busy with me
don't you fret, there isn't a fee
All you've got to do is be hella hella fine
then walk your cute ass to the end of the line!

When it's your turn, and your under the cover
don't forget who your with....the hardcore lover!

Sorry to hijack the thread with references to turd and hump and van damn

I'll volunteer for something at the event, security is a possibility, I'll keep the Michigan crew in line, pour drinks...wait..thats pete's job, give massages to Hasselnuts wife...show her what J. Demoss was really talking about...hummm?

Party with the Bigles in the back of the room...shit..I'll even invite the cupcakes to join in the festivities.

Back to the realism...I do need a place to crash for the night, so anyone have reservations already?

Misha,

If that's the Comfort Inn in elk grove then you practically accross the strret from the airport. There's probably a shuttle, Call the hotel to find out if & where.

We're having an open house at one of the studios I'm a member of that night so I'm not able to offer rides but maybe sunday depending on the time.

Is the auction for the Flame Off open only to artists in the Flame Off or can anyone make a Donation? I'm male but I have a daughter and mother too and feel this is a worthy cause.

You can take the Blue Line to Belmont and then ride the Belmont bus down to where Tony's is, between Cicero and Pulaski. The shop is on the 33 hundred block of knox, three blocks or so from Belmont and Cicero. Rex is a punk.

Rose,
I met you at AGI this past couple of years. I believe what you are doing is good , but there is one thing that you are doing that will make the entire event laughable.
It is this thing with only giving first names of those that are doing the demos. I know a lot about event planning and name recognition and making people want to attend something. What you are doing with only listing the first names of the people will hurt the show very badly. It will turn off future corporate sponsers and just plain not makle the event not look professional.
When I opened up the link to see the first names only I just laughed.
If I wanted to attend the event and saw the first names only, I would think these things
1) I must be out of the loop because I do not know who these people are by only their first names.
2) If I wanted to check up and google or try and find info on these people one name does not do it.
3) Some think that using one name is something only rock stars or the very rich do. For a normal person to do so might be takem as just plain arrogant. Have all these people wanted to use only their first names?Do they do this in every show that they do?
If you want this event to be taken seriously, then you must present it seriously.
I have seen something earlier, maybe at AGI, where there was a handout and I really thought that it was being presented as a joke. Could all these female lampworkers be so famous that one name would get them instant recognition. I doubt it. Or is the intend to NEVER to have them be know? I doubt that also.
It is just not professional and those participating in the event deserve better.
I hope that there is still time to have the printed material about the event list all by their full names. So that if a seious buyer were to enjoy someone's work, they would actually be successfull if finding them again.
The web site for this event says that press and media will be there. They are more than likely to rip you apart asking who these people treally are.
You really need to give last names if you want to be taken seriously.

I think what Lewis is refering to is the site, The postcard I got listed first and last names, as well as cities their from. That I beleive is the offical intoduction to the event, true Roze could of done better, but, this is the first I beleive, and I give her credit for trying. Hopefully the official announcements I saw were the ones used for promo, maybe you could e-mail her and offer advise Lewis..

Definitely fun.

Impressive, especially to watch women create such hugely awesome pieces with a bunch of peeps watching, and with a time constaint.

Roze threw an excellent party- a good time was had by all.

Nice to meet you all too- finally. I'll be around once I get caught up here.

Oh! Oh! Hey, did the pieces make it to the gallery? and like, when is the auction? Did anyone get pics of the finished work? Wondering...

yeah...so who's got pics to post? I saw a lot of cameras their...Sabina..Corrine..I wanna see myself looking dumbfounded. It was a good happening, seen some old friends..met new ones. I see women at agi every year, but to have 20 or so do their thing was something to see. Being the oldest one their (that works glass anyway) it was nice to see these girls progress into making something else I don't do. I liked Corrine's demo, sabina's and of course Misha's...I saw the tree woman Julie made, it was original, and very well done, I actually got some inspiration from them girls, so lets see what everybody got. I didn't stay for the last round, 10 pm was my curfew..ya know drinking and driving in Chicago back to the motel late night is not a good idea, but it was fun...Thanks Devon for the milli, used a few already, first one cracked..next round were fine..just me.

thanks for the good times by all.

I musta had a good time cuz I lost my voice by 7 pm! WTF? Why do I loose my voice on Saturday night, at the most kickin party in a long time?! Why not on a Wednesday or a freekin Monday. Noooooooo. It's gotta be at a party. Oh well, still had a great time. I loved the video setup. I'm gonna have to do that in my studio. I love loud techno, blinky light shows, and acid trip screen savers while I torch. Some lasers and a fog machine would have been good but Roze did a hell of a job as it was. Thanks Roze. See ya next time.

peetwice
10-22-2006, 08:54 AM
The pieces are on display, but I have no digi camera. I'll try and track one down today or tomorrow so's I can take the pics of the work and throw them up. I was one judge out of four, the others were all soft-glass artists, but I tried not to hold that against them. I showed up first to drop off the sheets and then the others followed in. The first two judges were Jeremy (I think) and his girlfriend or something, who own Chicago hot glass, Inc. He seemed fairly knowledgable when it came to glass, as he's been doing furnace work for quite some time. Didn't meet the other guy, but his name is Keith and he showed up late, so I just picked his sheets up later.
As far as prizes go, I don't know. Haven't even looked at 'em that closely. Gotta package 'em up later today, so I guess I'll get back on that.

So I am retarded when it comes to computers so I can't figure out how to label the pics, so if you really want to know who made what, then I guess I could post the description of whatever. Either that or someone pm me how to label the shit correctly and I'll change it.

Thanks for all the really nice pics of the finished products! I missed the last round so it is really great to see everything that was made. Really cool.

Pete? Peetwice- very nice work on the photos. wish I could help you with the labels... but that is not my forte.

I actually got a professional photographer to take the pics, which is why it took so damn long, so I can't take credit for how they look or anything. But thanks anywho!
