ok, so i want a pair of diamond shears....
i've seen the little ones glass evolution has....$30 or somthin...
are they large enough to be useful, or should i just save the extra $ up and get a bigger pair from a (no offense to the guys at DA) higher end manufacturer?
thx.

i just got a small pair of chinese diamond shears at winship for $10 and they work great. if they wear out in a year it'll still be a long time before i wish i bought some of jim moore's, even though i'm sure the j.m.'s are sweet, (all of those tools are). the small size is big enough to do anything i can picture with boro.

bc dont need i'll pm my addy to ya - lol
the small ones are really small to me the jim moore's are pretty dope - i like to use them to cut off the cinds of my twisty canes - centers the color up and just makes em clean and easy to pull down and not waste it - dident think so at first but for sure more efficent -

what do you guys like to use your shears for??

i use mine as a modified handheld necking tool. i also use them for finishing off the mouthpiece end of spoons neck it down with the diamond shears then tap and it comes off clean then fire polish. in the hot shop at school we use them for everything from pulling fine detail to cutting cookies and other attatchments. im sure there are lots of other uses

I like the cheap pair I got at Glass Evolution. They work great for necking down, cutting off solid cane and more. At he price i paid i could afford to replace them every few months, but have had these for almost a year and they are still going fine. Worth the $ spent for sure.

Lee[/QUOTE I had one of these cheap pair for 3 years they are still sharp. The only downfall of the cheep pair is you can't cut tubes over 38mm for snip and flips without burning the shit out of your nuckles and fingers .I use 9" jim moore sheers as a couple weeks ago with no problem and they seem to cut cleaner .

i found that for thiner things like goblet tops that the aluminum shears work better because they suck out the heat faster than the steal ones. but i have a pair for Jim Moore, and i lvoe them.

i mostly want them to make it easier to get a clean break on things i'm going to flare...opening goblets and feet without blebs....cause right now it takes for fucking ever and it's still pretty hit/miss...i end up scrapping quite a bit.
