Just wondering if anyone is owed any money from them, I know we are. We have done stuff for them before without "much" of a problem, (we had some late payments but they were always received). We were commissioned by Joseph "the owner" to do some stemware. Said stemware was sent out and he replied that it wasn't quite what he wanted but he said that he'd like to keep them anyway and have us do some more stemware with more specific instructions. Both sets would be paid for. No problem we had them ready in the time frame requested. Long story short we made them and still haven't been paid for the first set, besides a shipping deposit. I hope he reads this, I've heard he does freqent by here every once in awhile. I know this is may fault for actually trusting him, and not following my new business strategy of not doing shit until I'm holding actual cash, cause I've been burnt bad way too many times to trust anyone anymore. Just a heads up for everyone out there trying to just get by with there art, beware and protect yourself with this gallery.

he sent me a request through glassartists for artwork, but after asking more specific questions...never got a reply...so hopfully he comes through.
Is it just glassworkers that have trouble collecting?
I've been asked several times for stuff by others..but..Id get a deposit from now on..they asking for your help..they can show some comitment on their part for sure. If they have the capacity to open a gallery or botique, they have the cash to show they mean business...sounds reasonable to me...not all places ask for a consignment deal...show us artists some respect.
sound reasonable?

I work with over forty galleries as of now and have to say that 98% are great! Only a few problems here and there over the years. I've learned the hard way most of the time, but now I don't do shit without money in hand in some way or another. I believe Palisades is a gallery set up because the guy likes glass and knows how to make bats or something. I just think it's mostly a little collection of art for himself if you ask me. He's not pumping out any quality work after he sent me some of his wine stoppers for me to marvel at. (crappy hollow wrap'n rake with a mismatched grommet thingy covered in blue painter's tape). No joke this was the FINAL product he was supposedly selling. The blue painters tape assured a good seal as he stated. I should have known then to cease relations, but I like giving stuff away and then getting pissed about it later. LOL

Josh I've also been burned a couple of times and learned to always take 50% deposit of the job, no matter what. Balance payable on completion/collection/delivery.
Reason being, then I was covered in the event of the client bailing out or dying, at least then the cost of the materials was covered.
I know it's a different set up with galleries where they only work on a commission basis, that's a hard one, (as Eve said to Adam) so you don't get paid until after it's sold.
Sorry to hear about you getting screwed over Josh, I hate when working people get that. Best thing you can do is pass the word here so's other folks don't get it too.

He contacted me through GA in the spring, wanting some work. Said he'd pay up front too. Talked to him on the phone about exactly what he wanted and he asked me to email him the specifics in writing. I did that and NEVER heard back from him. Obviously not interested enough... Seemed friendly over the phone, but very flakyin general.

Is anyone here getting screwed by glasshouse383 in Memphis? Another gallery doing shady business. All of a sudden they were closed a few months back and have a bunch of my work(and I'm sure others too). Still trying to get my stuff, or a check back.
