so, i have.. a lot of finished pieces, and i'm not convinced that more and more gun cases are the best solution. (i have 2 double rifles, 2 double pistol, 3 double layer mid sized, one extra long triple layer case, a cosmetic case, a converted guitar case, and some random single pistol cases, all full with pipes, marbles, pendants, and i don't have room for xmas ornamnets, or wine bottle stoppers

going to a store with these gets pretty annoying, takes multiple trips in and out of the store, but i haven't seen a better solution/product than gun cases.

i'd like to hear anyone's solution to this.

i'd also love to hear how you marble people transport your marbles, because those heavy suckers like to move.

within the guncase's i have, i do the following, have the following ideas:

i use masonite, cut to fit into gun cases, then i add foam to both sides, as well as some rope handles. this gets me an extra layer or two in most cases.. but in that extra long triple layer case, that much masonite gets DAMN heavy. can't think of a better/stiff enough lighter material.

i've thought that an oversized tackle box with those neat tiered shelves would be a cool way to go.. and i've thought about expandable/collapsible shelves.. but.. i dunno.

so.. yeah, i'm rambling a bit, but.. eh.. help =)

Hi Seth, You can buy black trays with up to a 3" depth, place foam egg crate in it and stack them on each other. then put them in a carry bag made specifically for them. some have wheels, but i heard they arent real sturdy. But you can always get a dolly of some sort to push them on. They have some pretty nice ones out there. Hope this helps some. I know there is other stuff, i will return at some point if noone else has gotten to it. But I am way behind in soldering....

thanks mary, i've been thinking that the multiple shelf, or tray as you said, would be a feasible idea.
being able to compress the layers would be important... not sure what material the trays you're thinking of are made of.
any web pages you can link to would be good.. the searching i've done/am doing isn't very fruitful. i keep on getting airline web pages =/

thanks!

You're a machine.

...Just like me. I was thinking about starting a post in the glassifieds asking what kinds of things people would trade for our finished glass products. I know there are more people like us... sell a lot, but MAKE a lot more. And just keep producing.

Gun cases ordered from places like cheaper than dirt come in boxes that fit, say, four cases each. So each box can hold a good deal of glass, and are stackable. A dolly is and excellent tool and can carry multiple boxes, each with 4 Gun cases inside...

For marbles, those clear plastic cases with the removable inserts from hardware stores work great. You can set them up for whatever size mbs you have, and they'll never bang into each other.

For glass that you aren't planning on moving very often, I use a mechanics tool chest. Get ones with ball bearing sliders if you plan to put alot of weight in. They also lock usually, which is nice. I usually get craftsman ones.

Seth- I think I have seen 3" mayeb 4" not sure on those, i guess you could use foam in between and put as many of the buggers in as possible.

this is one company but if you google you can find more.

that's exactly right maestro.. sell lots, make even more!. someone stole my cursor. finding people that are willing to trade for finished goods.. now that'd be one helluva useful list.. after hearing smutboy got his teeth worked on for glass.. i just wanna find people willin to trade!

those trays look like a decent idea mcduck, but seem a bit small. 3feet by 1.5 feet by 1-3 inches deep... now.. that's what i'm talking about.. stack that 4 feet high.. hmm.. wouldn't fit in the truck too well.. bah.

thanks for the tip on the marble container things.. i forgot about those!.. got a couple lying around.

drink some water before bed steve!

now.. where'd my cursor go..

none of it is more than 6 months old, and i WANT a great selection when i go to a store... especially a new one. have more=sell more.
2 of my best accounts have been flakey the last few months, so i have about 2 cases more than i normally do.
selling it's not really the solution i want, then again.. i wouldn't mind someone buying it all.. ... .... heh

Try this again..yeah..talked about an hour with Gypsea/Eddie, went to a banquet last night, my daughters volley ball team made it all the way to play the state champions (who won the last 5 years), they lost. and I say it in their eyes the dissapointment to have come so far..their the only team in our towns history to have won the conference title. They whole team got awards for their play, my daughters a senior, and won't be back to play again, so yeah...I gotta little shit faced..then my good friends Gypsea/Eddie call from Jeckyll Island Georgia, at the bar they take me to when I stop on the way to florida every year....so Now its another day..and I posted here before, but a friend of mine sells these cases here in town, and puts foam in them, they have a see through glass top, with a lock..maybe useful to some of you..so heres the link..
www.aluminumdisplaycase.com his name is bill, and will go out of his way to help you..check him out. I have a case thats 14x8 full hinged, with glass see through front, and that foam for marbles inside, and I beleive theis a roll cart that fits several of these cases inside, standard size jewelry tray type box, the roll carts I think rio has, has fit his cases..so hope that helps ya out..give a call if need be.

I use a large Rubbermaid container that I fill with Tupperwere contianers. Its a lot less conspicuous then gun cases and only takes me one trip. Keeps everything seperated also.
