find a way to chuck it up in a drill... and use it like a lathe and put your tapper on with a file....

my solution is buy one there cheap and last for ages.....

dremel has a round sander at the top theres a sphere indent at the top looks like a marble
mold. If you hold either one at
a 45 degree angle it will shape a pencil tip. its kinda of hard to explain but it works

www.mountainglassarts.com has the bamboo handled pushes. I saw them in person yesterday, and they look nice. I had already double-blown my glass budget so I couldn't pick one up, but intend to next time I order.

As for what I use now, I got a 3/4" graphite rod from Arrow Springs and shaped it on a belt sander. Just wear a mask if you do it...

the menize pushs are pritty cool... and i would get one if i didnt already have 3 from public sci glass.... and they have the nipples on them... which i learned with so its hard for me to convert.... give them a call i put there number some where up here... i think under bamboo tools.... and one even has a down stem suport .... which is so helpful some times... but i dont think i paid more then 25 for it.... i could be wrong though...

and kristian sells the menzies pushs...two options....

The bamboo tools are where it's at. I've had my set for five years. Love 'em. I talked to Mike Kennedy yesterday and he's got some of everything made up and lots of sophietas. Operators are standing by 336-924-2183

buy a graphite rod, drill and tap it (you can do it by hand almost), then spin it and file it with a metal rasp...finsih with fine sandpaper and then steel wool. made a bowl push and my octagon reamer and theyre dope.

I am having these made locally. They have a steel poker that you can take out and use as a regular bowl push. With the poker it is a bubbler push.

Did anyone notice the date on this thread? It was originally posted because someone couldn't figure out how to round off the end of a carbon rod. Doesn't anyone else find this thread comical.

This is what I do. Except instead of duct tape I use electrical tape. Black for me, another color for my shopmate. No tool mixups.
