Does anyone here do the BMAC show in Philly? I'm going to do it for the first time this February, and I'm a bit overwhelmed. So much stuff to get together!!!
If anyone has any helpful tips, I'd love your input! I'm still working on my booth, so any suggestions about design would be greatly appreciated, especially ways to look good on the cheap....
Thanks in advance.

Steve, I just order a Cd from a suggestion on another site. I forget the actual website but google bruce baker booth design. Supposedly it's a bible for booth displays and set-ups including lighting and the such. Good luck man we'll see you there.

I was givin the info from another craftsman. After she listen to the cd 20+ times so she knew it forward and backwards. She increased her sales 40+% after applying the knowledge. Sounds like a good 15$ investment to me.

Since I went to some pedistals to make some nicer pieces stand out, that helped. I usually make my display as mobile as possible, stuff folds flat..etc.
I use the 6tf polyurethane tables..light weight. plus I bought some of those shelving at home depot 3ft by 8 inches in white or black, bulit 2 slotted sides so it collapses, the shelves slide in and it all tears down and lays flat. wrinkle free light print table covers, I've had more compliments on my booth and the covers.
I can upload the latest pic I took of my last indoor show if ya want. I have a conversion van, and my entire display fits in with room to sleep if necessary, I built it with colapsable in mind, but wanted it 1st class looking. And I have a suggestion on the lighting too, let me know.

Steve, your display is very nice, very clean. I love the order and structure that you have there, and that you have a lot of product that is easy to view. I like it even more that you have made it yourself, it breaks down into manageable pieces, AND that there is still room to sleep in the van!
I have to ask a question- the BMAC- is that throught the American Craft Council or some other group? Does anyone here belong to the ACC, and do you find it to be beneficial? From what I have read, they are supportive of helping artists/craftsmen with their marketing and presentation- any thoughts? or is there a better group for resources?

As you can see from the pic, theres two 6 ft. tables across the front, and one 5 ft. going back. Most all booth spaces you'll find are 10x10 for shows, unless double or 1 and a half. Thats my corner set-up, lots of room behind. If I weren't on a corner, Id configure it into an " L " shape, one across the front, one going back, and one across the back, that gives 4 ft of entrance room, and I have a corridor behind me if you can visulize that, its kinda like a Z with the center straight instead of angled, not all shows are 10x10, some 8x...some 11x..
You can' see in the pic, but their are 4 more pedistals on the table going back to the curtian. I made these square 10x10 various heights...then bought a sheet of formica, and glued that to the wooded frames, chose a green marble, hard to see in the pic, but the pedistals are the only thing that don't fold down, but their hollow, so turn em over and I have a lot of storage space to in them. I use sterelite tubs from walmart 80 gallon for holding my stock, 3 fit under a table, stack real nice and their $4.00 each
The lighting..heres what I did. I bought some floor flanges (for plumbing) round steel disks, threaded to fit steel pipe, at any plumbing place or menards. cut to the lenght. screw the pipe in the flange, then "C" clamp it to the table, I also screw them to, the flanges have 4 holes for screws, but you have to then drill holes in the table, if I use that route, I use long bolts with wing nuts to secure the flange to the table...thats why the c clamps work best, and fast to put up and tear down..2 options their. The opening in the top of the pipe, I just slip the bottom of the swing light in the top of the pole, it fits. I also painted the gray steel pipe white, like in the pic..theirs several ways to make a display, I discovered these methods by going to art and craft shows and looking at other peoples inventions, this display sets up in half an hour...minus the stock.
Hope that helps a little.
Thanks Steve ! Nice display / set up. We have did ours in "L" shape too. Really like the tiers on tables ( great use of space ) Also the "T" bar ( great for hanging pendants , xmas ornaments and such ) We have a 3 tier acrylic stand for marbles. We use dark blue, flame proof table covers ( got at a great deal from a guy who was getting out of craft shows) The stack crates are handy too ( can use banana boxes too ) The lightning is a great idea ( that was the one that was kickin' my butt ) The booths that we will have in the up coming shows are 10' w x 8' d ( not a corner ) We havedone these several ways but our best so far is to -- use a 6' table across front -- leave a 4' open space -- 6' table on side and 4' across back with room for us to sit behind and the rest of the things we need .. All crates are stacked under tables with extra glass out of the way. Thanks eveyone for "ALL" your info ! ! ! Peace Joe & Donna
