View Full Version : Oxycon acting up in this heat wave

I have a Companion 590 oxygen concentrator with O2 concentration sensor/indicator. I've noticed that during this wonderful midwestern heat wave we're having, the O2 quality bounces back and forth between NORMAL and BELOW NORMAL. My usage habits have not changed and I'm less than 10,000 hours on the concentrator so I'm pretty sure it's operating normally and the sieve media is OK (i.e. not in need of maintenance).

I'm thinking the very high ambient room temperature (90+) affects the efficiency of the concentrator. This makes sense to me (in my overly analytical head), but I thought I'd put it out there to see if anyone knows anything.

What do ya think?

Check the acceptable range of humidity of the makeup air that goes into the concentrater. If you got documents with it it should have a acceptable temperatre and humidity range. I bet its something to do with humidity.

it's the humidity doing it, get yourself a de-humdifier. I did and it makes all the difference in the world. I use the OG-15 gen with a holding tank.

Yes heat effects them. Hot air is less dense so each cubic foot of air has less o2 in it so your concentrater makes less.
large o2 gens like the air to be cold. only my onsite o2 gen the air is run threw a refigerated air drier.
it brings the air down below 40 degrees F. at that temp the air is a lot denser and has more o2 per cubic foot.
