Bead boys? C'mon now.

"I'm not 100% in love with your tone right now." Geico Caveman.

http://www.glassartists.org/Gal14016_Back_to_Basics_NOV_2005.asp

Haven't made beads in awhile. Once the ladies around here buy them from me,

they start to think they have a pet glassblower or something, and that's annoying.

Oh I'm so glad you posted boro beads. I really want to see something besides soft glass and the same old bead lady stuff. Very pretty. (I can say that right?)

I'm happy to call you big 'ol hunk of bead making man if you like that better :) But if we do that then I don't want to be a bead lady. I want be something more attractive than someone's Mother.

FredLight

Simmer down you two.

Susan, I'm sorry, but that was a marble.

Buyers aren't willing to pay my marble prices for beads, otherwise I'd be doing those on mandrels.

susheke
01-17-2007, 03:58 PM
I knew it was too incredible to be true. But... now you have me thinking a mini version could be gorgeous. I don't know the technique so I can't put it in a bead in my mind, but what if you could?
Now I'm off to find out how you guys do that.

susheke
01-17-2007, 04:01 PM
could you do what you do in marbles like these? sort of?

UmaJulz
01-17-2007, 04:22 PM
Ayako already does marbles with her murrini, sorry Suzy.

Hey, do you think Bigles would be pissed if I showed his Soft Glass Vessels? Hmmm, do I want to suffer the wrath of the Bigles? I do know where he parks his RV though...

But would vessels count, Suzy? Maybe only if they were big manly vessels... isn't that a contradiction in terms though?

Hmmm, where's that list Misha? you know, the only for the Pink Pussy Plunger beads... I need to get my dick lingo down.

FredLight
01-17-2007, 04:39 PM
OK,OK, yes I could. Jeez.

That's what bugs me about the "designers" around here.

I show them what I do, what I have a passion to make, then they show me something else, and say "can you do this?". Then they usually bust out with a Blue Heeler piece or something similar.

The ones I make are usually "D" shaped, with the hole towards the back. The are usually about one inch in diameter and 5/8" high. I can make them spherical, but the focal side rolls over when wearing it. You want two focal sides? Twice as much money.

is the "D" one more like a pendant then?? Couldn't you just tungsten pick a hole through the top and keep the back flattened?? I think pendants with the above blue imploded design would look awesome...have you tried those Fred???:bouncy:

Finding your own unique voice in beads as well as in marbles or any glass form is what it is about...follow your passion.

paintingwithglass
01-17-2007, 04:47 PM
Oh and bigger than 1 inch would be very coolio too!! 2.5 to 3 inch pendant with that awesome implosion...could be stellar.

PyroChixRock
01-17-2007, 04:48 PM
Ayako is a guy isn't he?

paintingwithglass
01-17-2007, 04:51 PM
Ayako is a woman...

http://www13.ocn.ne.jp/~shiro-ya/indexenglish.html

She works with Satake glass...totally different than boro and softglass here. The satake murrini looks sweet in Satake pieces.

FredLight
01-17-2007, 04:57 PM
I make those implosion pendants as most of my bread and butter. So, yes, I do.

No, I don't pick a hole through them.

The "D" beads are only for those who want the imploded designs in bead form and want to pay pendant prices for them.($25-45)

And, it's actually hard for me to make them small, like 1", so someone wanting a big one would be what I call "coolio".

PyroChixRock
01-17-2007, 04:58 PM
I must be thinking of someone else who uses Satake and makes marbles. The marble buyers always refer to him as a he...not the same person I guess!!

Thanks Fay! I can say i learned my something new for today! :D

Nope...let me think for a sec...there is Akihiro Ohkama...he does amazing work...and creates boro marbles..I saw them last year in Tucson...gorgeous!

and Aki's site:

Hey Fred I wasn't trying to tell you what to do. I was much more selfish. I was thinking what if I could do that then how could I make it a bead? "Wow, that would be a cool bead, wonder if I could learn to make a version of those implosions and make them my style of beads."

UmaJulz
01-17-2007, 05:25 PM
I have a great book with akihiro's work and tuts in it. It's the pre-tonbodama rage book on japanese lampwork.

FredLight

Then the answer is...yes, you can.

I like all beads, those are pretty cool. Great idea. My head is spinning with possibilties. Just wonder if I can make any of it happen, lol.

That wasn't exactly my plan here. I just wanted to see what you guys were up to. I hang out with a bunch of bead women and this place is a different world. Thanks for sharing what you do!

UmaJulz
01-18-2007, 09:28 AM
Aww, man! Wow- those are cool! What a great application of murrini, and what control. Oh I have ideas now. I have some Chase Dirty murrini- maybe a bracelet for fondling all the Fucktard, FU, Bitch, etc. murrini for when I am stressin'! It's either that, or the Magic 8Ball of Foul language.

Guys, please keep showing more beads. We get so used to seeing each others work (us beaders) and seeing new stuff is just great!

susheke
01-18-2007, 09:58 AM
That is probably the most amazing murrini I have ever seen. Chris you are incredible! Are some of those actual images on the glass?

And why isn't your site in your siggy? Now I'm going to have to google you, lol.
