I made my first batch of I/O male slides tonite they turned out great but my male slides....uh how you say? Not so great. I am working with 12mil standard wall and it is a complete pain. I cant get a perfect bevel for the life of me...whats the trick to make it look like it was machined?

you mean the female piece? some people do it on a drill with a small graphite reamer.

chuck up a piece of 9mm in your drill...
slide your 12mm over it and start spinning...
not too fast but kinda fast...
heat up the end of your 12mm untill its glowing(not molten)...
stick your reamer in the hole and ream it out.
some people use 3mm graphite rods

basically by taking the hands out of the process it can spin faster and look better

hope this helps

I've never made the female part myslef but in the prodo shop that I worked in when I first started they did it on a roller. I like the sound of the drill tech though.

A $30-50 corded drill from home depot will work just fine, make sure it has a trigger lock option so you dont have to pull the trigger for it to work.you'll also want to plug the drill into a dimmer switch to control your speed, mount your drill on it's side, and your ready to flare.it's good for male's/female's and cane

you can get drills that comewith a standing pole those seem to mount to the table easiest.

I use bench rollers and just roll back and forth. I make prodo oil lamps from the furnace and flare out boro for the wick holder. I never thought of the drill it does seem like it could be a time killer chucking up each piece for a 1 second flare?
