Kimble rules

So, I've been using up my old stash of mixed Kimble rod and loving it, decided to play with some of my old Kimble 12mm heavy wall that's been collecting dust for YEARS. WOW. I loved working with it, I already liked how boil-proof the rod is, but noticed how very un-boily the tubing is too. Now, I've heard other people talk up the rod too, but those same people have tended to shun the tubing, though I never got an explanation to why.

Aside from it being on the high side price-wise, are there any reasons you dislike Kimble tubing? Say something if you love it too. And input on the best deals on the stuff would be great. Glasscraft seems to be the best Kimble supplier out there far as I can tell so far, but not many distro's carry it:(

i haven't tried kimbal in a few years, but i never liked the tubing because i thought it was overly stiff, corded, and all around sloppy stuff. it's made in NJ (unless that's changed) and i'd be happy to support american glass, i just never liked the stuff

I like kimble rod but hate their tube, good thing I like simax tube and hate thier rods.

I use Kimble all the time and LOVE IT . I even looked at the properties and it closest resembles the properties of most the color , so to me means most compatable .

I bought from Frantz , they have or had a 10 case discount , and didnt seem to spendy in the first place .

Oh and from what I know they have revamped their set up , I called to ask about the "wax coating " MYTH , the lady said the rod was goin to 5 foot lengths at some point and they were trying to get more into the artistic side while maintaining the scientific side .

What do you mean by corded and how do you find it sloppy. Every tube I ever looked at from kimble reminded me of why they're a scientific company. (BTW check out their catalog sometime, lots of cool scientific parts to ponder how you can integrate into a pipe. You can order one here http://www.kimble-kontes.com/ they'll send it quick. My poops got much longer after that catalog hit the "bookshelf")

Anyway, I agree to some degree that it might take a bit more heating than Simax to get to temp, but it once you've got that stuff good and hot it stays workable for a good time without needing lots of re-heat and can generally be worked longer than simax, schott without deteriorating.
